****Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University Hawai'i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees such as paid leave and holidays. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

Other Conditions:  Position is a temporary casual hire position and offers no benefits, 89 day hire, not to exceed 40 hours/week.  Hours may vary.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Under the supervision of the Head Football Coach or designee, individual will work with the assistant coaches to complete office work and complete day to day, ongoing, or recurrent tasks and/or projects. 
  • Assists and participates in practices and intercollegiate competitions. Teach necessary

skills from the basic fundamentals to the techniques and strategies of team play.

  • Monitor assigned regions with regards to recruiting information with social media and various recruiting websites and provide information to Head Coach or designee. 
  • Assist with overseeing the academic progress of student-athletes by monitoring class attendance. 
  • Be the recruiting assistant for each their respective side of the ball: Offensive QC - Offensive recruiting analyst, Defensive QC - Defensive Analyst, Special Teams Analyst - ST Recruiting/Player Development
  • Promote and foster a positive team environment, appropriate behavior, and sportsmanship by team members.
  • Responsible for the conduct of team members both on and off the field. Promote the physical and mental wellbeing of all program participants.
  • Assist in the preparation of video, computer work, prepares scouting video of opponents on the XOS video editing system, functions, projects, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Assist in the filming of practice, game, and other football related video, computer work, preparation of video scouting for future opponents on XOS video editing system. 
  • Prepare, produce, revise, copy and/or compile emails, memos, faxes, documents, notes, Power Point presentations, spreadsheets, rosters, etc.
  • Answer phones, direct calls and/or take and route messages.
  • Attend functions, complete projects and other tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain collaborative working relationships with administrators and coaches in the department, other college offices, and appropriate relationships with members of the media, donors, and other individuals interested in the sports program.
  • Demonstrate a positive and professional working attitude and maintain a collaborative working relationship with the coaching staff, team members, support staff, administrators in the UH Athletics Department and other individuals associated with the UH Football program.
  • Maintains confidentiality to include but not limited to information, files and records that the incumbent may obtain or possess, in accordance with federal and state laws and University of Hawaii policies.
  • Know, recognize, and comply with the laws, policies, rules, and regulations governing the University of Hawaii and its employees, and the rules of the NCAA and affiliated conferences as now constituted or as may be amended in the future. Immediately advises the Director of Athletics or designee if you have reasonable cause to believe violations, whether by employees or students, have occurred or will occur.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited four year college or university.
  • Knowledge of football video editing.
  • Ability to create cut-ups and reports on XOS Video Editing System and combine XOS with Microsoft applications for presentations.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel, Power Point.  Familiar with Internet Explorer and Acrobat Reader.  
  • Ability to communicate effectively.  
  • Resourceful, diligent, flexible.
  • Ability to work independently.  
  • Ability to manage time wisely.  
  • Ability to work effectively and independently under pressure, with frequent interruptions, and remain flexible in handling several concurrent projects with competing deadlines.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.  Work hours include day, night, weekend and /or holiday hours due to programmatic needs.
  • Ability to travel with the team as required.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
  • or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
