The Office of Accounting Services is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team as an Accountant, Senior for Auxiliaries and Athletics Financial Reporting.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:
This position is responsible for all aspects of Georgia State University Auxiliary and Athletics, Athletic Association Financial Reporting, and will have oversight of Student Activities Financial Reporting.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Plans and organizes the accounting work for the Athletics component unit and Auxiliary Enterprises reporting unit. Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for Auxiliary. Reconcile the trial balance by ending balances, account & project type. Record relevant journal entries and resolve any discrepancies. Educate Athletics and Auxiliary staff regarding accounting policies and procedures and ensure adherence.
- Supervise, direct and review work of Accountant III responsible for Student Activities.
- Reconcile Athletic Association accounts including gate receipts, advertising, facility rentals and conference distributions. Supervise cash reserves. Assist with processing of purchase requisitions and reviewing of encumbrances.
- Prepare annual audit schedules for independent auditors for Athletics activity; prepare closing entries; follow through on information requested by auditors; review financial statement drafts. Prepare annual NCAA AUP and EADA reports.
- Reconcile Quasi Revenue.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
NOTE: This position requires working some evening and weekend hours during July – August for duties related to Fiscal Year-End Close.

- Bachelor’s degree and four years of related experience, or a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred Requirements:
- Advanced Excel skills.
- PeopleSoft Financials and Banner experience.
