Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Head Coach of Men’s Basketball provides strategic leadership to all aspects of the men’s basketball program. They are responsible for coaching, recruiting, and developing student-athletes; designing and implementing training programs; managing team logistics and operations; ensuring compliance with NCAA/conference regulations; and representing the university in athletic competitions.

This position requires frequent travel and evening and weekend work.


Essential Functions
Responsible for the organization, planning, teaching, and coaching of all practices and games.

Develops and implements strategies to improve student-athletes’ skill development through practice and games.

Oversees the identification, evaluation, and recruitment of quality student-athletes in compliance with University, Atlantic 10 and NCAA regulations and policies.

Hires, trains, and supervises assistant coaches and staff.

Tracks academic monitoring for student-athletes with the assistance of the Office of Athletic Academic Advising through the completion of graduation.

Manages the annual operating budget and respective fund raising gift account.

Oversees team travel, equipment and supplies.

Fund raises to support the operating budget.

Schedules non-conference games.

Represents the University at internal and external marketing, public relations, and fund raising events as required.

Maintains strong relationships with internal constituencies, to include Student Life, Residential Life, and Dining Services.

Complies with all NCAA, Atlantic 10 Conference, and University rules and regulations.

Management Responsibilities Supervises the work of other Fordham employees who are individual contributors. Responsible for hiring, training and developing, managing performance and administering corrective action. Has significant input in compensation decisions.
Additional Functions
Operates University-owned or leased vehicles to transport students, staff, and/or equipment in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and insurance requirements.


Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree.

Minimum of 5 years of successful coaching and recruiting experience with deep knowledge of NCAA rules.

Demonstrated commitment to adhering to all policies, rules, and regulations of Fordham University, the Atlantic 10, and the NCAA.

High level organizational skills.

Demonstrated commitment and motivation to building a successful program.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.


Preferred Qualifications
Valid Driver’s License.
Minimum Starting Salary $400,000
Maximum Starting Salary $650,000
Note Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
