Job Summary
  • Experience as an Athletic Equipment Attendant or Equipment Manager, preferably at a collegiate institution.
  • Experience with computerized inventory control system.
  • Knowledge of sports equipment and facility’s needs, procurement practices and principles, and inventory control and maintenance.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with coaches, administrators and student-athletes.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours
  • Must be able to work effectively with individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds and project a professional attitude.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality.

Responsibilities
Exercises independent judgment in overseeing the operation of an athletic equipment room.
Advises and assists coaching staff with the selection, measurements, and ordering of team apparel within the parameters of the department’s vendor contract.
Identifies, assesses, and negotiates the purchase of sport-related equipment.
Maintains current and detailed knowledge of the program and products currently used and likely to be purchased.
Negotiates best prices for equipment based on knowledge of technical requirements, NCAA rules, and market conditions.
Performs apparel and equipment inventory control as well as maintenance on these items to ensure they are in good order for safety and effective performance.
Supervising equipment attendants and student workers.
Supplies visiting teams and officials with all necessary equipment and other materials.
Attends home and away events of sports assigned and manages equipment at events.
Performs other program management duties related to athletic equipment.
Launders all practice and game laundry
Packs the bags for away games and set up uniforms for home games
Help place Under Armour for assigned departments

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus two years of related experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.

Preferences
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field and three years’ experience in Athletic Equipment Management, which also includes one-year of supervisory experience; OR three years’ experience in Athletic Equipment Management, which includes one-year of supervisory experience. AEMA Certified.
