LOUISVILLE ATHLETICS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The Facilities department oversees the daily operations of Athletics' leading edge facilities. The goal of the Facilities department is to ensure the highest quality of play and safety for all 23 varsity sports. Facilities operates and maintains the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center, Cardinal Arena, Cardinal Park, G. Garvin Brown III Rowing Center, UofL Golf Club, KFC Yum! Center, UofL Lacrosse Stadium, Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium, Marshall Center, Musselman Center, Cardinal Stadium, Jim Patterson Stadium, Cardinal Soccer and Track Stadium, Trager Center, Trager Stadium, Ulmer Stadium, Ralph Wright Natatorium, and Yum! Center.

Learning objectives for the Facilities Intern include, but are not limited to:

  • Gain experience setting up and running D1 Athletic Event
  • Ability to properly plan daily functions around facilities
  • Gain an understanding of how to identify problems and quickly resolve them

Championships:

  • Develop knowledge of NCAA and ACC sport-specific host operations manuals; Gain event operations experience for various sports (e.g., Cross Country, Field Hockey, Soccer, Basketball, Baseball, etc.) before, during and after competition
  • Learn to implement championship-related special events (e.g., banquets, speaking engagements, championship ceremonies)
  • Develop professional communication skills while interacting with multiple athletic staff members from various departments such as marketing, facilities, sports information and sports medicine
