Description

Southern Illinois University Carbondale is an NCAA Division I member of the Missouri Valley Conference. The Head Coach is responsible for all aspects of the operation and management of the Women's Golf program and reports to the Director of Golf Operations. 

Examples of Duties

Identify and successfully recruit quality student-athletes nationally and in-state; organization and execution of practices, competitions, tournament schedules, travel, etc. Promote the welfare and academic progress of student-athletes, provide coaching skills, maintain an environment of academic success and development of student-athletes.; performing the daily administrative duties of the program, excellent work ethic, motivational; supervision of assistant coaches, graduate assistants, or volunteer coaches, if needed. Engage in fundraising, alumni, and public relations activities and promote the golf programs; participation in departmental meetings and functions; ensuring compliance of the program with University, NCAA, and MVC rules.

  •  Identify and recruit quality student-athletes. 
  • Organization and conduct of practices, competitions, tournament schedules, recruiting, and travel. 
  • Promote the welfare and academic progress of student-athletes, provide coaching skills, maintain and environment of academic success and development of student-athletes. 
  • Ensure the compliance of the program with the University, NCAA, and MVC rules. *Daily administrative duties of the program. 
  • Participate in fundraising and public relations activities. 
  • Scouting report on opponents for strategic game planning. 
  • Handle film exchange with other Division I programs. 
  • Evaluations 
  • Keep up-to-date on compliance issues. 
  • Summer camps. 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
Requires bachelor's degree; thorough knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations. 
Must possess technical knowledge of Women's Golf and show demonstrated ability to apply that knowledge; two (2) years NCAA competitive golf experience

Preferred Qualifications:
NCAA coaching experience.
