Position Summary:
The Director of K Club will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the K Club operations, the official letter winner organization of Kansas Athletics, ensuring a high standard of service and hospitality. This role involves strategic planning, philanthropic outreach, and fostering member satisfaction and engagement for all letter winners. Specifically, this position will develop relationships, and create connection points with current and former student-athletes, managers, athletic trainers and coaches to continually enhance this affinity group and take a significant role in identifying philanthropic opportunities. The Director will collaborate with the Assistant AD of the Annual Fund, Director of Signature Events & Donor Experience, and Associate AD for Engagement & Outreach to ensure efficient and strategic execution of K Club initiatives throughout the department. The Director will work closely with the board of directors and hall of fame committee, and report directly to the Assistant Athletic Director of the Annual Fund.
Activities within the K Club need to strive to support two goals: (1) create strategic engagement opportunities for all letter winners, and (2) develop pipeline of philanthropic prospects to support Kansas Athletics.
Duties and Responsibilities of all Positions at Kansas Athletics
- Adhere to University, Big 12 Conference, Kansas Athletics, and NCAA policies and procedures;
- Maintain knowledge of departmental activities, sports schedules, and procedures;
- Foster cooperative working relationships with fellow staff members within the Department;
- Support the athletics department goals and philosophies as described by the Director of Athletics and work to achieve and uphold the department’s mission statement and core values;
- Maintain a positive attitude toward performing job duties and in working with other staff members;
- Exhibit professional decorum at all times while representing Kansas Athletics, including routine events and meetings that occur outside of the office and on the road; and
- Maintain the confidentiality of all information obtained while an employee of Kansas Athletics including all private, confidential, or sensitive information and ensuring compliance with FERPA, HIPAA, and other applicable regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities of this Position:
- Develop and implement strategic plans to ensure K Club’s long-term success. This includes setting short-and long-term goals and objectives; establish and execute a robust K Club annual plan that includes fundraising appeals, strategic communications, and engagement opportunities;
- Partner with the Director of Signature Events & Donor Experience to plan, coordinate, and execute K Club special events (including reunions, Hall of Fame inductions, Ring of Honor celebrations and jersey retirements);
- Develop and manage the annual budget for K Club activities in alignment with the Club’s financial goals;
- Provide full managerial oversight of the K Club Graduate Assistant, and student and part-time K Club Assistants and interns, which may include University course credit opportunities and Federal Work Study. This includes the management of the recruitment process, selection and hiring, workforce planning and scheduling, performance management, and training;
- Verify and approve all Graduate Assistant and part-time employee timesheets prior to each month’s payroll deadline, and submit employee change status or pay adjustment requests to Human Resources in a timely and accurate fashion;
- In collaboration with Development and NIL staff, ensure effective education and engagement with former student-athletes surrounding Name, Image and Likeness fundraising opportunities;
- For each sport program, in collaboration with coaches and upon approval by sport administrators, identify and execute alumni engagement events and outreach on an annual basis;
- Develop and execute marketing strategies to promote the KU Club and attract new members. Oversee the production of all K Club written and digital marketing and collateral materials, including management of K Club social media accounts, to activate storytelling opportunities and improve engagement with K Club members;
- In collaboration with the Curator, Booth Family Hall of Athletics, maintain and ensure adherence to policies and procedures for honors including Hall of Fame, statues, Ring of Honor and jersey retirements;
- Manage and serve as point of contact for the K Club Board of Directors and Hall of Fame committee;
- Develop and implement programs and activities that attract new members and enhance member satisfaction and engagement. Meet regularly with KU Leads staff to connect with current KU student-athletes and educate student-athletes on mission, history and tradition of K Club; and
- Other job-related duties as assigned by the Athletics Director or their designee.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university;
- Minimum of 3 years professional experience with outreach, programming and special events;
- Managerial or supervisory skills that include coaching and the ability to foster teamwork, and motivate staff to achieve departmental goals;
- Ability to communicate clearly and to convey thoughts, ideas and plans clearly to a board of directors, coaches, administrators and other athletics staff members;
- Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and strength in oral and written communications;
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively under multiple, strict deadlines in a fast-paced office environment with the capacity to adapt quickly to major and minor changes in projects and outcomes;
- Ability to work an irregular schedule, including long hours, occasional evenings, weekends and holidays as needed during peak sport seasons;
- Knowledge of and commitment to NCAA rules.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university;
- Previous experience working in college athletics, specifically with letter winner organizations;
- Former KU student-athlete.

This job operates in a professional office. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and various digital devices, including, but not limited to: cell phone, printer, copy machine, and other related devices. This job requires flexibility and adaptability in schedule and the ability to perform job related duties on short notice.

Travel
Occasional travel may occur with this position for specific hospitality events, sport post-season success, professional development, or as needed during peak sport seasons.
Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work will vary based on the needs of the position. Early morning, evening and weekend work may be required.
