Wayne State College (WSC) is seeking individuals who are currently BOC Certified or have sat for the BOC exam making them BOC Certification eligible to become an Athletic Trainer. This posting is for two newly created full-time positions on a 12-month contract. At WSC we strive to provide quality healthcare for our student-athletes. We are present at practices, home and away competitions, and provide treatment and rehabilitation throughout the day in our athletic training room. Sport assignments for these openings will be determined once hiring is complete though your interests will be taken into consideration.

Nature of Work | Provides preventative care, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Supervise the daily operation of the athletic training room, cleaning the athletic training room, filling whirlpools, stocking tapes, and doing inventory to ensure for smooth operation of the treatment and care of the student athletes. |
Examples of Work Performed | 1. Represent Wayne State College and the Athletic Department in a positive manner with a high degree of integrity and quality. 2. Promote and support Wayne State College and its mission. 3. Promote and support Wayne State College Athletic Department’s program mission and goals. 4. Provide leadership in the planning and operation of Athletic Training Services. 5. Administer to the needs of various teams within the policies of Wayne State College, NSIC, NCAA, and NATA. 6. Assist with the coordination of documentation, filing, and all maintenance of all medical related records. 7. Assist with organizing and facilitating all daily operations related to Athletic Training services. 8. Establish effective interpersonal relations with coaches, players, administration, students, local medical personnel, and the public. 9. Assist Head Athletic Trainer in the selection, supervision and evaluation of graduate assistants and student worker(s). 10. Assist Head Athletic Trainer in delegation of responsibilities to graduate assistants and student worker(s). 11. Assist in promotion and public relations activities for the Wayne State College Athletic Department. 12. Assist Head Athletic Trainer with enforcement of athletic training room rules including discipline and sportsmanship behavior. 13. Provide Athletic Training coverage for assigned practices and home/away athletic competitions. 14. Assist with the coordination of Athletic Training and First Aid coverage and services for all summer sports camps and leagues. 15. Provide treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. 16. All other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer and/or Director of Athletics. |
Required Qualifications |
BOC Certification is required for employment however, applicants that are BOC Certification eligible by August 1, 2025, will be considered. Nebraska licensure for athletic training or eligible to apply is also required. |
Preferred Qualifications | • Master’s degree • Previous college-level athletic training experience • Minimum of 1 year full time experience in addition to ATEP experience • Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills • Strong interpersonal skills • Results oriented, creative and highly motivated • Demonstrated ability to work as a team player • CPR and AED Certification |

Salary Information | Competitive, commensurate with qualifications & experience. Attractive & comprehensive fringe benefit package. Annual salary range is $45,649-$57,061. |
