Job Summary

The Athletics Department is seeking an individual to serve as a Sports Operation Student Assistant (Track & Field / Cross Country). The successful candidate will assist the Track & Field / Cross Country teams in coordinating and preparing the team and recruiting travel and works in compliance with NCAA bylaws.

Duties include:

• Coordinate with the Athletic Department Administration and serve as a liaison for Track & Field / Cross Country teams with various university units (housing compliance, and SAAC) on issues related to each respective area
• Works with Head Coaches and assistant coaches with the teams and recruiting travel (including travel authorization requests, busses/vans, hotels, and food); game day operations for the teams at home (away, as needed) competitions
• Follow FIU procedures in handling all ordering of supplies
• Review, understand, and abide by all department procedures
• Maintain confidentiality for the department and all student matters. Treat with utmost confidentiality and sensitivity, any matter pertaining to academic and personal data of student athletes and any information either directly or indirectly impacting the University and/or Athletic Department
• Adhere to all State of Florida, University, NCAA, Conference USA, and department rules and policies pertaining to the position of Sports Operation Student Assistant (Track & Field / Cross Country)
• Report any known NCAA violations or concerns to the Director of Athletic Compliance

Who May Apply

• Students enrolled at FIU,who have been awarded Federal Work Study (FWS) as part of their Financial Aid Award package.
• Student must be enrolled with a minimum of six (6) credit hours in a course of study leading to a degree or a Financial Aid eligible certificate, during Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
• Upon credits decreasing, award being canceled, or graduating, FWS employment must end.

Hours will vary based on class schedule and needs of department.
