Job Summary

The College of Arts & Sciences at CU Boulder is encouraging applications for the A&S Principal Curriculum Specialist for Prospective Students & State-wide Curriculum Agreements position! This professional position is the principal contact for the course review for prospective transfer students, including prospective NCAA student athletes recruited by the Athletics department. This position supports the Assistant Dean of Academic and Curricular Affairs on transfer evaluations for all courses governed by state-wide agreements that are updated annually and works with departments to ensure all state-wide transfer guides are accurate and fulfill state-wide and College requirements. This position reviews courses for students working with pre-transfer advisors and is the resource for Pre-Transfer advising inquiries. This position acts as a liaison to the Assistant Registrar for Eligibility and Degree Services regarding prospective NCAA student athletes. This position is also responsible for a small caseload of admitted and current transfer students.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Curriculum Specialist for Pre-Transfer students

• Evaluate courses taken or planned at other colleges and universities by prospective transfer students for transferability and applicability to the College of Arts and Sciences curriculum.
• Maintain decisions about transfer courses in the University’s transfer table systems.
• Explain College curriculum and policies to University Exploration & Advising Center Pre-Transfer advisors.
• Meet regularly with the Pre-Transfer advising team to explain upcoming College curricular changes.

Curriculum Specialist for Colorado State-wide transfer policies

• Ensure that the transfer rules for all transfer courses governed by the Guaranteed Transfer Pathways (GT Pathways) program are accurate and up to date.
• Coordinate review of new GT Pathways and Colorado Community College courses with the College and Departments.
• Support the Assistant Dean for Academic and Curricular Affairs on transfer agreements policies and details. This includes creating and maintaining transfer guides between the Colorado Community Colleges and College of Arts & Sciences majors.
• Provide periodic review of courses at other University of Colorado campuses.
• Assess whether equivalent courses to transfer courses exist at the University of Colorado Boulder and, if not, determine the appropriate department and course level in which they should fall.
• Determine the applicability of transfer courses to specific college curriculum requirements.
• Authorize and approve appropriate transfer course substitutions for curriculum requirements.
• Pre-approve or deny transferability of courses and their applicability to curriculum requirements for students planning to study at other institutions.

Curriculum Specialist for prospective NCAA Athletes

• Receive Prospective Student Athlete reports from Admissions and make transfer decisions on courses not previously reviewed.
• Determine which College major(s) best match the student’s academic record and NCAA eligibility.
• Prepare Percent-Toward-Degree reports for the majors of interest so Athletics and the Registrar’s Office can determine NCAA eligibility for a student upon transfer to the University.
• Provide guidance on how a student athlete can improve their percent-toward-degree eligibility.

Curriculum Specialist for admitted and current students

• Evaluate the applicability of courses from other institutions to the college curriculum.
• Table transfer courses accurately in the degree audit system.
• Adjust students' computerized degree audits to reflect these decisions so students and academic advisors have an accurate report of students' academic standing.
• Adjust major audits at the request of departmental academic advisors.
• Act as consultant for departmental advisors, students, faculty and staff, interpreting and explaining curricular policies and their applicability to specific cases.

What You Should Know

This position is eligible for a hybrid remote work schedule, with a greater in person presence required on campus during the initial training period.

What We Can Offer

The annual salary range for this full-time position is $60,000-$66,560.

What We Require

• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
• 3+ years of experience working in an academic setting that includes experience in transfer credit evaluation and complex academic degree audit systems and experience with the building and maintaining transfer credit rules and tables in computerized degree audit systems.

What We Would Like You to Have

• One year or more of academic advising experience.
• Experience with CollegeSource products, including UAchieve, TES and Transferology.
• A Master’s degree or equivalent experience.
