Job Description:
The Department of Mathematics & Sciences at Our Lady of the Lake University seeks a full-time, Title V Grant funded, Academic Advisor for our main campus in San Antonio, TX to begin in August 2024. We are seeking an Athletic Academic Advisor to provide personalized guidance and support to student-athletes, helping them navigate the intersection of academic and athletic pursuits to achieve their educational and career goals.
Essential Functions:
This position will facilitate student-athlete academic achievement, retention, and graduation. Development and evaluation of athletic academic assistance programs and project student-athletes' progress towards degrees will be a vital part of this position.
We are seeking an energetic and collaborative individual to join our team to complement and strengthen existing expertise and experience. Specific duties of the position include:
Assist student-athletes in selecting appropriate courses to fulfill degree requirements while considering their athletic schedules.
Monitor academic progress and provide guidance on course load balancing and academic planning.
Offer career exploration services tailored to the unique needs and interests of student-athletes.
Provide resources for internships, job shadowing, and networking opportunities within and beyond athletics.
Teach time management techniques to help student-athletes effectively balance their athletic commitments with academic responsibilities.
Offer study skills workshops and resources to enhance academic performance.
Foster a sense of community among student-athletes through workshops, team-building activities, and peer mentoring programs.
Collaborate with campus organizations and community partners to promote academic success and holistic development among student-athletes.

Familiarity with campus resources and support services available to student-athletes, including tutoring centers, disability services, and mental health counseling.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Education, Counseling, or related field
Experience of academic advising of higher education students
Preferred Qualifications
Earned Master's degree from an accredited institution in Education, Counseling, or related field
Experience of academic advising of athletes in higher education
Experience working with NAIA eligibility, rules and regulations
Experience working with support services and special programs
Additional Information:
Minimum Starting Salary: $39,782-$44,203
