The Football Academic Advisor is responsible for advising, counseling and mentoring both undergraduate and graduate football student-athletes, monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes to include tutor & Learning Specialist assignment; coordinating the process of adding, dropping, and registering for all classes; tracking academic eligibility and Percentage Towards Degree completion; tracking assignments upcoming and immediately due in all classes, assisting with the recruitment process; and assisting with the eligibility certification process. The Football Academic Advisor will attend weekly grades meetings to discuss the academic performance in every class of each student on their caseload. The Football Academic Advisor will report to the Director of Football Academics and maintain consistent communication throughout the day on their students’ progress, mitigate challenges that arise. The Football Academic Advisor will maintain strong campus engagement communicating frequently with professors of the students on their caseload to ensure class expectations are being met. The Football Academic Advisor will primarily work to ensure the football students meet all the NCAA progress toward degree requirements and graduate in the timelines set forth by the student. The Football Academic Advisor will join a team committed to providing students with strategies to navigate their experience at the University of Miami, including effective study strategies based on individual learning preferences and will provide advisement and referral to students with academic, career and/or personal concerns. This individual will also participate in monitoring the NCAA, ACC and University of Miami eligibility for the student-athletes on these teams.

Track grades in all classes for all assigned student-athletes, both graduate students and undergraduate students.
Organize a timeline for students to study and complete assignments.
Using Blackboard Observer access, daily track assignment completion, submission, and grades.
Track Percentage Towards Degree Completion for assigned student-athletes. Attend weekly grades meetings with other football academic advisors and Learning Specialists to report on students’ progress in each class. Facilitate scheduling of tutoring for assigned student-athletes with the Tutor Coordinator Monitor class attendance of assigned student-athletes. Work with advisors in schools to ensure required satisfactory academic progress.
Facilitate advisement for early registration process
Review Degree Progress Reports with student-athletes and develop class schedule options considering practice obligations
Monitor student appointments with advisors in schools
Review and evaluate class schedules to ensure that all courses are required for the student's degree
Conduct weekly meetings with high-academic risk students and all newcomer freshmen and transfers
Meet weekly with student-athletes to discuss their academic responsibilities, follow up on all assignments, and discuss plans for make up work when necessary.
Organize a timeline for students to complete assignments
Refer student-athletes to campus resources when necessary. Assist with tracking of NCAA/ACC /University of Miami Eligibility Rules. Help with various office duties as needed and other duties as assigned. Assist the Learning Specialist with student evaluations and educational programming. Assist with newcomer Orientation programming Track Holds blocking students from registration. Refer them to Financial Aid, Compliance, or other campus resources to rectify. Update Compliance Assistant at the end of each semester with appropriate grades.
