Job Summary:
The Nancy & Donald Resnick Academic Support Center for Student-Athletes (RASC) is responsible for providing comprehensive academic support services for Temple’s nearly five-hundred (500) student-athletes on nineteen (19) intercollegiate sports. Under the guidance of Office of the Senior Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies, the Nancy and Donald Resnick Academic Support Center for Student-Athletes provides superior academic, personal and professional guidance to support all Temple University student-athletes. Job Summary:
The Nancy & Donald Resnick Academic Support Center for Student-Athletes (RASC) is responsible for providing comprehensive academic support services for Temple’s nearly five-hundred (500) student-athletes on nineteen (19) intercollegiate sports. Under the guidance of Office of the Senior Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies, the Nancy and Donald Resnick Academic Support Center for Student-Athletes provides superior academic, personal and professional guidance to support all Temple University student-athletes. Working under the supervision of the Director of the Academic Support Center for Student-Athletes, the Academic Advisor 1 provides comprehensive academic advising services to student-athletes and assists them in making decisions affecting their academic progress by providing administrative counsel and personal guidance relative to interpretation of the University's and School/College's relevant academic policies and pertinent NCAA guidelines and related to an objective analysis of students' academic records, academic goals and professional objectives. The incumbent meets with student-athletes on a one to one and group basis to discuss and disseminate information regarding academic performance and other issues as they arise. The incumbent also maintains academic records, reviews and evaluates transcripts and interprets relevant University policy as appropriate. The incumbent assists in coordinating new student- athlete orientation as well as pre-registering assigned students for new student orientation; participates in the development, planning and implementation of student recruiting functions. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and at least six months advising experience in an academic setting in higher education. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills and Abilities:
*Demonstrated interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively with students in group settings.
*Ability to work with automated student information systems.
*Demonstrated computer skills to include: Microsoft Office Suite
*Basic understanding of pertinent NCAA bylaws and continuing eligibility standards.
*Ability to work nights and/or weekends, as necessary.
*Experience with a Student Information System.
*Demonstrated commitment to academic integrity and ethical standards within higher education.
Preferred:
Experience in a student-athlete advising environment.
This position requires a background check.
