Position Summary
Salem College, an NCAA Division III institution and member of the USA South Athletic Conference, invites applications for the position of Assistant Track & Field Coach. The Assistant Coach will assist the Head Track & Field Coach in all aspects of the women’s track & field program, including recruiting, athlete development, practice planning, meet preparation, and program operations.
The successful candidate will be passionate about coaching, mentoring student-athletes, and contributing to a culture of academic achievement, personal growth, and competitive excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Assist with planning and conducting practices, workouts, and training sessions.
· Provide technical instruction and skill development in assigned event areas.
· Assist with meet preparation, competition strategy, and athlete performance evaluation.
· Recruit and retain qualified student-athletes who align with Salem College’s academic and athletic mission.
· Support the academic success, personal development, and well-being of student-athletes.
· Foster a positive team culture focused on accountability, leadership, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
· Assist with travel planning, meet logistics, and team operations.
· Support fundraising efforts, community engagement activities, camps, and clinics.
· Assist with equipment management and facility preparation.
· Maintain compliance with NCAA Division III, USA South Conference, and Salem College policies and regulations.
· Assist with social media content, recruiting communications, and program promotion.
· Drive a college-owned 15-passenger van to transport student-athletes to practices, competitions, recruiting activities, and other team-related events as assigned.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Track & Field Coach and Director of Athletics.
Required Qualifications
· HS Diploma required (bachelor’s degree Preferred)
· Previous playing and/or coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level preferred
· Strong knowledge of fundamentals, strategies, and player development
· Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
· Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
· Commitment to supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion
Physical Functions
While performing the responsibilities of the Assistant Women’s Track & Field Coach the employee is required to sit for varying lengths of time; bend, reach, lift, push, and pull up to 25 pounds; occasionally stand, walk, and kneel and regularly ascend/descend stairs; use hands and fingers to handle or feel and manipulate keys on a keyboard; perform extended periods of work at a computer workstation, view a computer monitor; perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and receive detailed information through oral communication; express and exchange ideas by means of spoken word; and work in an office setting.
