The purpose of this position is to coach the Wheelchair Track team at the University of Arizona. This individual is responsible for the instruction, scheduling, travel arrangements and competition opportunities for the team. Within their allotted team budget, the Head Coach sets spending priorities and monitors team expenses accordingly.

The Head Coach provides instruction of wheelchair track in regularly scheduled team practice sessions as well as individual sessions as needed.
Assists with the strength and conditioning training on a team and individual basis.
Directs the fitting, ordering, maintaining and inventory of sport-related equipment.
Works with the Athletic Director to monitor team spending and project annual expenses and budget needs.
Plans and coordinates sport-related events and activities to promote the sport on campus and in the community, including the implementation of a summer camp for people with disabilities.
Determines appropriate team travel schedule and coordinates all travel accommodations.
Together with the Director, identify and recruit student athletes domestically and internationally, who are eligible for admittance to the university. Depending on the teams needs this may include traveling to junior wheelchair basketball tournaments to recruit, have an annual plan to replace graduates and to identify student athletes that will be successful.
Supervise, train and recruit any team assistants and volunteers that would work with the team.
Provide clear, regular and timely communication with current athletes and potential recruits about expectations for team conduct, academic standing and athletic progress.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
Minimum of 3 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
Master's degree in Therapeutic Recreation. Kinesiology, Adaptive Physical Education, Sports Management, Exercise Physiology, or a related field.
Six years of experience in adaptive athletics.
Three years’ experience that indicates leadership ability and/or teaching skills.

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University’s campuses.
