Title: Aquatics & Pool Operation Manager / Assistant Swim Coach

Position Purpose: The Aquatics & Pool Operation Manager / Assistant Swim Coach is responsible for aiding the Head Coach in administering a competitive NCAA Division III intercollegiate swim program. This position focuses on the aquatic and pool operations duties including managing the programming for, and running the operations, of the pool. The Aquatics Manager position focuses primarily in the areas of pool management, lifeguard supervision, community engagement, risk management, recruitment of staff, along with fiscal program management.  In addition to Aquatics Manager duties, the Assistant Swim Coach role will focus on program administration pertaining to travel, training, skill development, and also work in partnership with the head coach to enroll an academically and athletically talented and diverse team of students. The position will also assist with various projects assigned based on experience and program needs, and requires significant night and weekend commitments.  

Job Duties: Aquatics and Pool Operation Manager Responsibilities: Oversee and staff pool operations related to facility access for student, staff, and alumni. Assist in pool facility maintenance including water chemistry, pump room operations, cleaning, and record keeping. Upkeep of all facility equipment and technology. Assist with the management, operations and scheduling of camps, clinics, and rentals; oversee revenue generation and help manage billing, contracts, and reports. Collaborate in the development and implementation of safety and risk management procedures including CPR training, emergency action plans, and staff training. Coordinate and oversee aquatics special events, swim meeting, and instructional programs to include youth and adult private and group swim lessons, student focused events, safety training, and revenue generating opportunities. Fill in as lifeguard when student employees are unable to work scheduled shift or during unassigned shifts. Recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate all aquatics staff (including 25-30 lifeguards, lifeguard supervisor, swim lesson supervisor and swim instructors). Assist in the supervision and continued development of the entire Aquatics student staff. Assist with the coordination and execution of aquatic in-services, monthly staff meetings, new staff on-boarding procedures, and help support the lifeguard supervisor(s) with scheduling and scheduling issues that might arise. Assist in the scheduling and operational needs for staff certifications with American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED and Lifeguard training. Ability to work evenings and weekend hours as necessary. Assistant Coach Responsibilities: Assists the Head Coach in all aspects of running a successful and highly competitive DIII athletics program. Arranges team travel transportation arrangements through the Senior Administrative Coordinator for Athletics and team lodging arrangements through the department Business Manager. Makes travel decisions according to protocol and within budget requirements. Adheres to college policies in utilizing the college-issued credit card for team-related expenses, and reconciles expenses as necessary. Provides leadership, support and instruction in the personal and athletic development of student-athletes, including advising team members in academic, disciplinary and personal matters. Provides individual and group instruction to students on competition strategy, conditioning, and technical skills. Works with the head coach and equipment manager to ensure the safety of student athletes and coaches through monitoring the condition of athletic equipment and coordinating the selection, purchase, fitting and maintenance of team equipment, uniforms and supplies. Adheres to college financial policies when utilizing the college-issued credit card for team-related expenses and ensures timely reconciliation. Connects and refers students to student support and success services across campus (i.e. Accessible Education, Peer Learning Commons, Counseling & Psychological Services, Health Services, Sports Medicine) and may direct the coordination of services for the student. Assists in the recruitment of student-athletes as directed by the head coach.  Maintains an active social media presence for the team posting daily to every three days. Assists with approved fund-raising activities as requested and coordinates all such efforts through the Director of Athletics and Office of College Advancement. Understands and adheres to and enforces all policies and procedures of the Department of Athletics and the College as well as the rules and regulations of the NESCAC, the NCAA and other authorities that may legitimately influence the intercollegiate athletics program. Completes all required departmental and institutional training and certification programs and actively participates in available professional development opportunities.
