Internal Operations
Provides direct oversight and decision making of the daily development, fundraising, and athletic marketing management of Western New Mexico University. Develops plans to increase the revenues generated by the intercollegiate athletics program through fundraising, donations, ticket sales, and underwriting of specific events and/or sports seasons. Assists with events related to the promotion of athletics and the development and implementation of fundraising activities for intercollegiate athletics and serves as a host to donors, alumni, VIPs, the community, and local and state governments.
Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Mustang Pride Partners (Mustang Mob, Club 1893 and Mustang Mayhem) including annual giving, management of benefits, annual seat assessments, ticket allocations for season tickets as well as other games, administration of the priority points system, and supervision of special events. Develops, plans, and implements all cultivation and solicitation activities pertaining to the Mustang Pride Partners. Oversite of the Athletics/Team agency fund account balance management and fund disbursement requests and submissions. Assists in generating revenue through the sale of season tickets with annual seat/parking assessments for football. Increases the revenues generated from private sources by cultivating fundraising activities for Mustang Mob membership, Club 1893 membership, Mustang Mayhem, corporate sponsorship, and other private sources. Abides by and complies with National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Lone Star Conference and WNMU rules, academic standards, requirements, and all guidelines and policies of the Athletics department and reports any concerns of compromise or violation of rules, standards, guidelines, or policies to the Director of Athletics or the Associate Director of Athletics for Internal Operations. Contributes to a work environment that encourages, respect, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds. Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses. Contributes to the overall success of the University Foundation by assisting with responsibilities as assigned. Supervise a staff of interns, federal work-study students, volunteers and provide training to all involved. Assists administration with revising and creating athletic department policies and procedures. Direct supervision of selected athletic programs as assigned by the Executive Director of Athletics Assist in the planning and preparation of internal and external events. Operate as the game administrator for select home contests, including visitor arrivals, safety, locker rooms, practice times and lodging. Provides a broad range of administrative and supervisory functions. Supervises assigned staff in accordance with WNMU personnel practices including recruitment, training, performance evaluation, guidance, etc. Participates in the process of ongoing personal and professional development. Maintains comprehensive communication among all contacts (internal and external). Models professional standards and ethics in accordance with WNMU philosophy. Additional duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited higher education institution, Master’s degree preferred. Experience with development, fundraising, sales, marketing, or similar field required. Experience in an athletic department or sports team preferred. Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred.
Must have the ability to work with diverse groups of young adults. Knowledge of current NCAA, Lone Star Conference, and University policies and procedures. Must be well organized.Must have the ability to effectively interact with donors and alumni. Knowledge of operating budgets and the Ellucian Banner operating system. Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications. Must have the technical aptitude to operate scoreboards, video boards, and controllers.
Normal office environment, may travel some within the community when needed. May be required to lift normal office equipment and materials. Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information. Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication. Hearing ability for verbal communication/ conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions. Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing, reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling, and prolonged sitting. May be required to work additional hours or days depending on circumstances.
Requires a valid New Mexico driver’s license. Must pass a Defensive Driving Course within 2 months of hire date. CPR/First Aid/AED certified within 2 months of hire.
