This position is directly responsible for oversight of all Army West Point Athletics Association Inc. (“AWPAA”) marketing and promotions plans with an emphasis on creativity, game presentations, as well as community engagement initiatives. This position also assists with growing event attendance and the AWPAA brand both regionally and nationally.
The successful candidate must be team-oriented, able to lead and foster a cooperative environment while working collaboratively with other departments, as well as be a highly motivated, a self-starter and organized. The position will work closely with other units in the athletic department and at the United States Military Academy (“USMA”), to ensure all logistics for home athletics events are properly managed.
Scope of Impact
This position has a high scope of impact reaching from prospective Cadet-athletes, coaching staff, AWPAA administrators, USMA leaders, the West Point Army Garrison, the United States Army and its supports and constituents.
Level of Decision Making
This is a leadership position. This position will oversee direct reports and is charged with making both specified and implied decisions in an ever-changing environment. All decisions will be made based on mission requirements, will align with both the AWPAA and USMA missions, will be in the best interest of the athletic department, and will adhere to all applicable rules and regulations. This position will play an integral role in the success of the AWPAA, the Marketing and Fan Engagement Unit, and the External Operations area(s).

Success in this position will be evaluated by the Supervisor on the employee’s performance in a variety of areas, including but not limited to: Commitment to AWPAA Mission, Vision and Values; and supporting the AWPAA Strategic Plan and Priority Results.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position will directly supervise the Senior Director, Marketing and Fan Engagement. Additionally, by extension, this position will have administrative oversight of the Assistant Director, Marketing and Fan Engagement.
Work Conditions & Physical Requirements
Travel
Must be able and willing to travel 25% of the time. Travel will be based on the nature of the department’s and athletic teams’ schedules (e.g., committee meetings, championship tournament, service academy games, etc.) and on the need for assistance for home events.

Pay Range
$60,000 - $70,000
This job posting contains a pay range, which represents the range of salaries that AWPAA believes, in good faith, at the time of this posting that it might be willing to pay for the posted position. AWPAA expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would AWPAA consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.
