ABOUT THE ROLE

Catawba Athletics wins because people show up for the Catawba College Indians — in the stands, on the course and at the plate. The Assistant/Associate Director of Athletic Engagement keeps that community growing. This person leads the Chiefs Club board, builds a membership program donors are proud to belong to, engages athletic alumni with their team and the College, and runs the signature events — First Pitch, the Football Golf Classic, Hall of Fame, and our Conference Championship Reunions.

This position is filled at the Assistant or Associate Director level depending on experience. Associate Director requires five or more years of athletics development, membership, or event-fundraising experience, prior ownership of a volunteer board or committee, and a documented record of hitting event revenue or membership-growth goals. Assistant Director is the entry point for candidates with two to four years of relevant experience who are ready to run events and manage board relationships with senior support.

Chiefs Club Board & Membership

• Serve as the primary staff partner to the Chiefs Club board, setting agendas, running meetings and turning board energy into action.
• Grow and manage the Chiefs Club membership program to raise both dollars and member count year over year.
• Coordinate with the Director of Annual and Leadership giving on solicitation strategy and timeline.
• Recruit, brief and steward board and committee volunteers.
• Track membership performance against goals and report results in terms leadership can act on.

Fundraising and Athletic Alumni Events

• Plan and run First Pitch, the Golf Classic and other Chiefs Club fundraising events from concept through post-event thank-yous.
• Lead Conference Championship Reunions tied to Homecoming Weekend in partnership with coaching staff and Director of Alumni Engagement to bring former Catawba College Indians back to campus.
• Set and hit revenue and attendance goals for each event, and build the budget, timeline, and vendor relationships to get there.
• Coordinate with athletic coaches for alumni days/events.
• Assist with promotion of Women’s Athletic Fundraising event
• Co-Coordinate the football radio show on Thursdays as a visible, weekly touchpoint with fans and donors.

Donor Stewardship

• Keep Chiefs Club donor records current in Raiser's Edge and use the data to personalize outreach and stewardship.
• Organize Chiefs Club members' benefit fulfillment, including but not limited to hospitality events, thank you notes, gifts, and other benefits.
• Execute athletic alumni and Chiefs Club communication as needed.

Be able and willing to assist with other duties as needed.

Requirements:

Assistant Director: Bachelor's degree required; two to four years in athletics development, membership management, event fundraising, sales or a related advancement role.

Associate Director: Bachelor's degree required; five or more years in athletics development, volunteer management, membership management, event fundraising, sales or a related advancement role.

A track record of running fundraising events and volunteer boards that hit their numbers.

• Comfort with donor databases (Raiser's Edge experience a plus) and basic gift and sponsorship reporting.
• A natural connector who is as comfortable on a golf course or at a tailgate as in a board meeting.
• Evening and weekend availability for games and events
