Job Description:

Job Summary:

The Assistant Athletic Director provides leadership and administrative support for the intercollegiate athletics program, ensuring alignment with the mission of the institution and the values of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). This position provides leadership in sport supervision, compliance and financial oversight, student-athlete development, and operational management while fostering a culture grounded in integrity, academic achievement, and competitive excellence. The assistant athletic director should model the NAIA Champions of Character & OLLU's core values and follow all rules and regulations pertaining to the NAIA and OLLU. 

 

Performance Evaluation Metrics:

• 100% on-time and accurate NAIA eligibility certificate submissions.
• NAIA and EADA reports filed accurately and on-time.
• NAIA Champions of Character Gold Medal recipient

 

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

1. Know and comply with the rules and regulations of the Red River Athletic Conference, the NAIA, and OLLU Policies, Procedures and Practices.
2. Serve as the decision maker of the Athletics Division in the absence of the Director of Athletics.
3. Assist in strategi planning and departmental operations.
4. Oversee assigned athletics programs as sport supervisor.
5. Monitors financial activity in a thorough and timely manner ensuring strict adherence to fiscal and administrative policy, while working with division colleagues to ensure the same.
6. Assists the Athletics Director in coordinating and overseeing new hires.
7. Performs daily Compliance operations of the athletic department to ensure strict adherence with the University, Red River Athletic Conference, and NAIA rules and regulations for amateurism, eligibility, financial aid, awards, playing and practice seasons, and sports camps/clinics for 20 intercollegiate sports.
8. Monitor the Champions of Character Program completion rates and document community service of teams to report to the athletic director.
9. Assists in maintaining records of annual planned giving by donors thus enhancing the University's ability to fundraise for Athletics. Assists the athletic director in the planning and promotion of intercollegiate events and fundraising events, including the annual golf tournament, camps, and ticket sales revenue.
10. Assist in the preparation of annual reports for NAIA, Clery, and EADA for Athletics Director.
11. Attend Athletic Department and campus meetings as needed.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

1. Participates in fundraising as coordinated by the athletic director and the advancement office.
2. Assists in special events and tournaments, championships, fundraisers, and/or clinics to include, but not limited to, one major fundraiser per year.
3. Attend staff development meetings, clinics and other professional activities to improve performance.
4. Writes an annual report at the end of the season evaluating the program with recommendations for improvements.
5. Adhere to university policies, state and federal laws concerning Title IX, HIPPA and FERPA.
6. Contributes to the overall success of the intercollegiate athletics program by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Experience in a collegiate athletic setting.
2. Effective oral and written communication skills.
3. Interpersonal skills to support professional relationships with coaches, student-athletes, and campus colleagues.
4. Ability to work collaboratively with other departments on campus.

 

Education and Experience:

1. Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
2. Minimum of 2 years' experience in athletic administration or coaching at the collegiate level is preferred.
