The Assistant Athletic Director is responsible for Olympic Sports student-athlete health and well-being concerns. Works collaboratively with other departments and professionals to ensure the proper care of all football student-athletes. Is responsible for hiring and evaluation of qualified, professional training staff who work directly with student-athletes.

Other Requirements and Factors: Employee will supervise (1) FT, (1) PT Athletic Trainers and (5 to 10) Athletic Training Students. This position may be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Four years of athletic training/sports medicine experience
Required Licenses and Certifications:
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
General knowledge of NCAA rules
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy
Strong preference given for those with six or more years of experience
Essential Duties/Tasks:
Athlete Care - Evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries to TAMU athletes. Taping, bracing and preparation of student athletes for practice and games (events) of assigned sports. Attendance and supervision, for safety preventive and emergency care of student athletes, at practices and games (events) of assigned sports. Travel, as directed and required, with assigned teams. Coordinate with Director of Sports Nutrition for appropriate meals, and supplements utilized by student athletes. Charting and record keeping of student athlete injuries utilizing current record keeping systems and protocols. Coordination and consultation with Physicians, and student athletes and medical facilities regarding health care. Consultation with coaches and parents regarding student athlete health care.
Administrative and staff management - Collaborates the Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine with departmental administrative responsibilities. Assists in the annual performance evaluation process and the hiring process during periods of staff transition. Assists with budget management and planning, as well as policy and procedure revision and facilitation. Provides recommendations to best practice guidelines and implementation as it applies to Texas A&M University. Communicates with medical providers as needed. Attends educational meetings with student athletes (i.e. concussion education, athletic training policy, etc.). Administers and organizes day-to-day operations of Main Campus athletic training room. Oversees opening/closing duties and daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance/upkeep of facility. Documents daily treatment and rehabilitation of student athletes, and documents athlete schedule compliance.
Supervision - Assist in supervision of student athletic trainer apprenticeship education and sport scheduling. Assist in maintenance and supervision of athletic training room, equipment and supply inventory.
Compliance - Maintains continual and thorough familiarity with all applicable NCAA, Southeastern Conference and Texas A&M University rules and regulations. This position works to establish and ensure communication and enforcement of rules and regulations for all staff members and student workers supervised.Compliance is a shared responsibility.
