Job Summary

Valdosta State University competes in intercollegiate sports at theDivision IIlevel of theNational Collegiate Athletic Association(NCAA). The Blazers have primarily competed in theGulf South Conferencesince 1981. VSU competes in twelve intercollegiate varsity sports. Men's sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, and tennis; while women's sports include basketball, cross country, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball.

This position will assist in the direction and oversight of the operations of a department or unit.

Responsibilities

Department Summary

The Assistant Athletic Director will work directly with theDirectorofAthletics to develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans to drive revenue for VSUAthletics. This position will utilize traditional and digital advertising, email campaigns, lead generation and community outreach to grow the VSU fan and corporate sponsor base with the goal of increasing ticket sales, corporate sponsorships and other external revenue. In addition, this position will work with VSU Foundation on increasingathleticfundraising and VState Club membership and revenue and collaborate with multiple departments on campus.

Typical Allocation of Duties

Assist in plans and goals development - 30%
Assist in developing and implementing plans and goals for the department or unit.

Assist in daily operations - 25%
Work with the Director or Associate Director to coordinate and supervise daily operations. Supervise assigned department staff. Participate in the provision of professional services as required.

Compliance - 15%
Ensure compliance with regulations, standards, and internal policies.

Data analysis - 15%
Analyze data, prepares reports, and implements necessary changes to existing procedures.

Coordinate departmental participation - 10%
Coordinate the participation of the department/unit at internal and external functions.

Participate in meetings - 5%
Participate in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings as needed to provide guidance and direction on related issues.

Supervisor Expectations

• Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and advertising plans to drive ticket sales.
• Provide direct support for game day operations to include fulfillment of responsibilities associated with corporate sponsorships.
• Build relationships with current corporate sponsorships by engaging and seeking input on a regular basis.
• Lead and execute campaigns via social media, email, and digital advertising to produce leads for ticket sales.
• Organize and coordinate all in-game elements to promotional schedules to drive attendance for homeathleticevents to include theme nights and giveaway promotions.
• Collaborate with ticket office to promote and drive ticket sales, write scripts, timelines and coordinate all in-game elements for home events.
• Collaborate withAthleticDepartment staff on schedules, ads, direct mail, brochures, game day programs and social media.
• Responsible for working and attendingathleticcontests and events including work on nights, weekends and holidays.
• Highest level of personal and professional integrity and ethics.
• A strong passion for intercollegiateathletics.
• Position includes other duties as requested or required whether or not specifically mentioned in the job description.

Required Qualifications

Required Experience
Bachelor's degree in a specified field and three (3) years of related work experience. Professional licensure, certification, and/or designation may be required in some areas.

Proposed Salary

Commensurate with experience.
