Under the direction of the Director of Athletics, The Associate Athletic Director for Internal Relations & Director of Compliance oversees all aspects of student-athlete recruiting by the college or university, ensuring all rules and regulations set forth by the institution, the conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) are followed. The Associate Athletic Director for Internal Relations & Director of Compliance also determines eligibility of athletes; monitors academic performance to ensure continued eligibility; updates and revises the student-athlete compliance manual; and prepares and submits all NCAA paperwork. The Associate Athletic Director for Internal Relations is part of the administrative team supervising sports, coaches, temps, student workers, and volunteers.
The Associate Athletic Director for Internal Relations & Director of Compliance will provide departmental leadership, assist the Athletic Director in overall administration of the athletic program, and provide oversight and supervision of all Compliance & Academic related issues for the department and university. This position will represent the athletic department at NCAA, Conference, and University functions in addition to serving on various departmental and University committees. This position serves as the athletic department liaison with Financial Aid, Admissions, Residence Life and Registrar’s offices to ensure proper communication and implementation of applicable policies and procedures.
The Associate Athletic Director for Internal Relations & Director of Compliance is also responsible for coordinating all academic support services for assigned varsity intercollegiate athletics teams including meeting with the head coach or designee of assigned sport teams regularly to develop strategies for successful management of academic issues and concerns. The person in this position will perform such duties as follows: Advise and direct student-athletes to use of campus academic support resources. Provide informational orientations to prospective JCSU student-athletes; Refer student-athletes to appropriate resources for summer jobs/internships; Represents the University, CIAA Conference meetings and functions. Assists in fiscal year budget planning for Intercollegiate Athletics. Assist in creating and revising athletic policies and reviewing and editing Athletic Department Policy and Procedure Manual. Assists in reviewing and editing Student-Athlete Handbook.

Bachelor’s degree. Experience working in an NCAA Athletic Compliance Department. Highly effective communication skills; written and verbal. Attention to detail and organization are essential. Ability to succeed in a high paced environment. Must have demonstrated ability to collaborate with campus constituents, students, coaches and parents.
Understanding of NCAA initial continuing and transfer eligibility processes and procedures Additional Desirable Qualifications
Master’s Degree
Three years’ experience working with college age athletes
Three years’ experience NCAA Division II policies
Three years’ experience or knowledge recruiting collegiate athletes at the NCAA/Collegiate level
