Job Description

The Missouri S&T Athletic Department, a 17-sport NCAA Division II intercollegiate program competing in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), is seeking a rising professional to join the Athletic Department and the athletic administrative leadership team as an Assistant Athletic Director for NCAA Compliance.

The selected candidate will be highly organized and driven with exceptional multi-tasking and communication skills. Experience with managing people and providing leadership on various projects with attention to detail are required. This person will report to the Director of Athletics and will serve as the primary contact for all NCAA compliance related matters. The individual will serve on various committees and represent the University at conference and national meetings.Time management and interpersonal skills are essential as the successful candidate will be asked to regularly work alongside other members in the department and on-campus, as well as effectively lead a culture of compliance and integrity within the department. The person must be able to compile data, prepare, write, and review reports and be proficient with NCAA CAi and compliance software programs.

The successful candidate will be a key contributor to the overall success of the department and will be given additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics. This may include long and short-term tasks or responsibilities to provide professional growth with real-life experience. Examples include but are not limited to, scheduling facility maintenance and repairs, building corporate club sponsorships, assisting with game day planning and fan engagement initiatives, or being delegated to oversee new initiatives, not yet developed, on an ad hoc basis. The individual will serve as a game administrator for selected home athletic events including all home football games.

It is essential the successful candidate has a strong work ethic, is able to collaborate with a diverse group of individuals and has a team first mentality. He or she will serve as a role model of professionalism for colleagues and students and commit to ongoing professional development and lifelong learning.

Essential functions include:

• Direct all aspects of an NCAA compliance program according to NCAA guidelines, requirements, and best practices
• Responsible for and have expert knowledge regarding NCAA and GLVC policy and the ability to communicate to administrators, coaches, staff, faculty, and student-athletes when changes occur
• Report all NCAA rule violations to the NCAA and GLVC and investigate when applicable
• Ensure all student-athletes, including transfer students, are eligible to participate in intercollegiate athletics programs, including certifying the continuing eligibility of current student-athletes
• Research to provide interpretations regarding NCAA rules to coaches, student-athletes, administrators, university staff, and other representatives of athletic interests upon request
• Provide NCAA rules education to coaches, student-athletes, administrators, alumni, and athletic donors regarding recruiting, amateurism, awards and benefits, playing and practice seasons, and sport camps and clinics, emphasizing an atmosphere of compliance and institutional control
• Responsible for creating and completing all NCAA reports, including but not limited to, Academic Performance Census, ASR/GSR, sports sponsorship, and financial aid
• Responsible for submitting all NCAA certifications, squad lists, and drug consent forms, student-athlete reinstatements, and other related items as required by the NCAA
• Work with the financial aid office, administer all athletic scholarships, including grant-in aid awards, National Letter of Intent, equivalency tracking, and summer scholarships
• Responsible for preparing and submitting all waivers and appeals to the NCAA or GLVC when applicable
• Oversee, monitor, and approve items such as practice logs, official and unofficial visit requests, and entering student-athletes into the transfer portal system
• Monitor the Eligibility Center to coordinate initial eligibility processing for incoming freshmen and transfer student-athletes
• Monitor student-athlete progress towards degree and work with academic advisors and coaches to keep student-athletes on track to meet degree requirements and graduate on-time
• Maintain and annually update the department's NCAA compliance manual
• Represent the athletic department on campus, within the conference, and on national committees as assigned by the Director of Athletics
• Serve as a game day administrator for selected home athletic events to include all home football games
• Provide supervision and mentor direct reports

Shift

Evenings, weekends, and holiday work will be required at times.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in related/ relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

• Experience with NCAA Division II compliance
• Ability to work independently with a high level of individual responsibility
• Demonstrate problem-solving skills and the ability to facilitate conflict resolution with co-workers and others
• Ability to use database compliance softwarein particular Team Works
• Thorough knowledge of and ability to apply expertise to complex problems
• Ability to maintain confidential information and work with other departments on sensitive issues and solutions
• Demonstrate consultative skills in working with diverse groups and individuals
• Detail-oriented and can effectively present ideas and concepts in a written or verbal format
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and faculty
• Hard-working, driven, dependable

Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position will be $52,000-$58,000 annually.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
