Job Summary
The Assistant Athletic Director for Operations is responsible for the day to day administrative and operational functions of the OPSU Athletic Department. This position provides leadership in game day and event operations, NAIA and conference compliance oversight, and financial operations including purchase order processing. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with coaches, staff, campus partners, and external stakeholders to ensure efficient, compliant, and professional athletic operations. Start date: July 1, 2026
Responsibilities
Coordinate and oversee all aspects of home athletic event and game day operations for assigned sports, including facility preparation, staffing, scheduling, and event logistics.
Supervise and manage game day personnel, including event staff, student workers, volunteers, officials, and other operational support staff.
Serve as the primary liaison with facilities, campus security, athletic training, sports information, and external vendors to ensure smooth execution of events.
Ensure compliance with conference and NAIA hosting standards and institutional policies during
Assist with event budgeting, scheduling, and post event evaluations to improve operational efficiency and fan & student athlete experience.
Assist the Athletic Director in monitoring and enforcing NAIA, conference, and institutional compliance regulations.
Support rules education initiatives for coaches, staff, and student-athletes.
Assist with eligibility certification, roster management, recruiting documentation, and required NAIA reporting.
Maintain accurate compliance records and documentation.
Serve as a point of contact for compliance related questions and coordinate with campus partners as needed.
Manage and process purchase orders (POs) for the athletic department in accordance with university and state purchasing policies.

Track expenditures, reconcile accounts, and assist in budget monitoring across athletic programs.
Work closely with coaches and department staff to ensure timely and accurate procurement of equipment, apparel, travel, and operational needs.
Maintain organized financial records and support audits, reporting, and budget reviews as required.
Provide administrative support to the Athletic Director, including operational planning, reporting, and special projects.
Assist in developing and implementing departmental policies, procedures, and operational
Support strategic initiatives related to athletics operations, facilities use, and risk management.
Represent OPSU Athletics professionally in interactions with campus offices, conference officials, and external partners.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of OPSU Athletics.
Must be able to lift more than 50-lb. objects; frequent bending, stooping, and walking.
Ability to work various hours, including nights and weekends throughout the year for practice, games and recruiting.
Be able to transport team to the contests, and be responsible for their well-being.
Could be exposed to a variety of weather conditions.
Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or his/her designee
Qualifications
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, Athletic Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in collegiate athletics administration, operations, or a closely related area. Working knowledge of NAIA rules and compliance regulations. Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills. Experience with financial processes, budgeting, and purchase order systems. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by athletic schedules.
Preferred: Master’s degree in a related field. Prior experience in NAIA or NCAA athletics. Experience with game day operations management and event coordination. Familiarity with university purchasing systems and compliance software. Supervisory experience with full-time staff, graduate assistants, or student employees.
