The Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine is responsible for supporting the Deputy Director of Athletics in leading a superior NCAA Division II sports medicine program at Regis University. The athletic programs are the front porch of the institution, and it is paramount that the training and sports medicine programs operate in a manner representative of Regis University. Excellence shall be attained through top-quality health care for student-athletes, communications with athletic staff, and superior customer service for all entities with whom the athletic training programs interact. An atmosphere of care for student-athletes' health and well-being must be the driving principle of the Regis University sports medicine program.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Medical Care:
Emergency Medical Care: Provide emergency medical evaluation, treatment, and injury triage to student-athletes during practice and/or competition. Design and fabricate protective equipment and apply appropriate taping/wrapping to support extremities and prevent further injury aggravation.
Follow-Up Medical Care: Provide daily follow-up care and evaluation of the injured/ill athletes and communicate with appropriate coaching and athletic staff regarding the status of injury/illness and participation capabilities. Work with the Regis Cares physical therapy program to provide post-op or complicated injury rehabilitation care.
Medical Documentation and Billing: Oversee the documentation of injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation of injured student-athletes. Manage and maintain student-athlete pre-season paperwork, injury/documentation of therapy, medical billing requirements, and communication and internet access hardware and software.
Collaboration with Team Physicians and Other Sports Medicine Professionals: The Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine will work closely with the team physicians and extended sports medicine staff regarding the care and management of injuries and illnesses. This includes serving as the primary liaison between the athletic department and the medical community regarding the health care of the student-athletes with referrals to physicians, the Regis Care physical therapy program, and other allied health care professionals.
Administrative:
Promote the Brand of the Athletic Department and Regis University: Continually strive to enhance the image of the Regis University Athletics Department and its programs through in-game conduct, inter-personal contacts with parents, visitors, university faculty/staff, and community citizens. Additionally, the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine shall participate in Athletic Department and University-sponsored events and initiatives.
Fundraise for the Athletic Department: Required to participate fully in department fundraising activities, fundraising events, university campaigns, and special project campaigns.
Create an Atmosphere of Compliance: Know, recognize, and comply with the laws, policies, rules, and regulations governing the NCAA, the RMAC, and the Regis Athletic Department. Supervise and ensure that any assistants and any other employees and/or volunteers for whomyou are administratively responsible comply with the policies as mentioned earlier, rules, and regulations. Immediately advise the Regis Deputy Director of Compliance if there is reasonable cause to believe violations, whether by employees or students, have occurred or will occur.
Pre-Participation Exam (PPE) and Required Documentation Supervisor: Will oversee all necessary PPE and documentation required to be a student-athlete for the Regis Athletic Department. Will be the primary contact for parents and student-athletes in regard to questions or concerns about required documentation. Required to process, collect, and document all PPE and forms necessary by the NCAA, RMAC, and Regis Athletic Department. Required to make sure all student-athletes are cleared to participate as a Regis student-athlete prior to participation.
Professional Development:
The Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine must engage in professional development and is responsible for keeping up with current trends and developments and implementing to current duties to perform more effectively. Additionally, the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine must attend pertinent professional opportunities and classes, including but not limited to NATA, RMAC, and NCAA meetings.
Mentor and Collaborate with Sports Medicine Staff: The Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine is expected to help serve as a mentor to all Assistant Athletic Trainers as they grow in their knowledge and profession. This includes assigning and delegating duties seen fit by the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and/or the Deputy Director of Athletics, Performance & Finance. Each staff member is expected to participate in the Athletic Department and Regis University initiatives as determined by the Director of Athletics.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or a related field
Master's degree from an accredited university in Athletic Training, Exercise Physiology, or a related fieldpreferred
NATABOC certified
CPR/AED certified
Colorado AT licensure eligible
Professional Experience:
3-5 years of supervisory athletic training experience at the NCAA levelpreferred
Ability to work with insurance companies to ensure prompt and accurate payment
Ability to follow University procurement policy
Broad knowledge of common prescription medications
Other:
The ability to travel easily between athletic facilities
The ability to lift up to 40lbs
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working conditions are indoor and outdoor in all types of weather. Work will require weekend and/or evening work. Some local, regional, and/or national travel is required. Please note that hours worked may vary weekly to accommodate practice, game, and travel schedules. Flexibility in availability is essential to meet the demands of this role.
Pay Rate:
$60,000 to $70,000/annually commensurate with qualifications
