Assumes responsibility for the oversight of the athletic communications and serves as lead media relations contact. Serves as a member of the department’s senior leadership team. Independently plans, develops, and implements a comprehensive athletic communication program to help strategically shape and execute the vision for the University of Hartford Athletics and Recreation. Manages the University of Hartford Athletics website and all athletic publications. Directs programs that encourage and support the development of Hartford’s fan base and alumni as well as providing competitive platforms for teams and individuals competing in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. Assumes responsibility for ensuring compliance with all federal, state,
NCAA
, conference, and University regulations. Performs all duties in full support of the University’s mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University’s students.
Budgeted hiring range is $50,455 to $63,000, depending upon experience

| Description of Key Responsibility |
Develops, implements and oversees short and long-term media relations strategies and plans for Athletic events in an effort to ensure the dissemination of information regarding all varsity sports programs. Designs, edits, produces and distributes athletic communications through all appropriate media outlets and publications. Identifies and utilizes multiple platforms of communication to promote University sports programs including, but not limited to, press releases, social media, internet sites, computer transmissions, mailings and personal contacts. Maximizes opportunities to use Communications as a vital recruitment tool.

| Description of Key Responsibility |
Assumes responsibility for game day coverage including, but not limited to, producing game notes and/or programs, servicing on-site media, current stat programs and compiling statistics, as well as reporting results to the appropriate media outlets. Recruits, trains, and supervises game day statistics crew and staff. Serve as liaison with Broadcast Production staff for all streamed productions. Serves as the information contact for Athletics and Recreation Department as necessary and/or appropriate. Attends promotional and community events to increase and drive attendance. Acts as the primary University contact for brand management and licensing with CLC Learfield. Acts as Sport Administrator for up to four teams.

Provides oversight for the Athletics Communications team, managing the area within the framework of a balanced budget. Provides management, guidance, training and evaluation for the area staff.

Establishes, cultivates and maintains effective working relationships with members of the media to generate stories that highlight the achievements of Athletics, its student-athletes and the Department in general. Coordinates all television, radio, and media broadcast activities for the Department of Athletics. Serves as an information contact for Conferences, NCAA and other collegiate sports information offices. *

Generates and executes promotional plans for student-athlete recognition. Assigns photographers and oversees the maintenance of photo files. Directs the research, development and maintenance of career/season records, statistics and general archival information for all Hartford student-athletes and associated sports programs.

Works closely with the Office of Marketing and Communication to ensure consistent use of the University’s brand identity. Maintains awareness of trends in communication and social media. Maintains the Department of Athletics website in compliance with departmental and University web policies as well as established data integrity standards. *
