Position Summary: The Assistant Athletic Director of External Relations and Fan Experience will lead the marketing strategy, the Washburn Athletics Partnership Program, and supervise event operations for the Washburn Athletic Department, emphasizing driving revenue through partnerships and carrying out high-level events and functions.
Essential Functions:
The Assistant Athletic Director of External Relations and Fan Experience is responsible for:
• Oversee, lead, mentor, and develop the external relations team to foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment. The external relations team includes a full-time assistant, videographer (upon availability), gameday interns, and graduate assistant, and directing:
• The Washburn Athletics Partnership Program and included revenue, fulfillment, sponsor reaches and the Washburn Athletics trade program,
• Programming for the department including Bods Buddies and the Washburn Athletics Internship Program,
• Event operations and serving as the point of contact for all vendors (radio, concessions, and apparel) for all home athletic events and special on-campus activities,
• All marketing, branding, and social initiatives for the department, and assist in ticketing efforts, group sales, and promotion of season ticketing.
• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree, with at least two years of experience in fan engagement, marketing, sales, administration, management, or a similar role in athletics.
• Demonstrated knowledge of MIAA and NCAA DII rules and regulations.
• Demonstrated effective organizational and management skills.
• Proven effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree with graduate-level experience in fan engagement, sports marketing, sales, administration, management, or a similar role in athletics.
• Knowledge of Adobe Suite, Daktornics video systems, and DV Sport.
Full-time, Exempt, Mon-Fri
