The Assistant Athletic Director/Recreational Services reports to the Director of Athletics and Recreational Services and is responsible for providing leadership to and management of the recreational and intramural programs, services, and operations of the Lincoln University Wellness facility. In addition to directing the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the Wellness Center and its departments, the Assistant AD/Recreational Services serves as the liaison between the center and the other University department such as, The Athletic Department, operations & maintenance, Police, Purchasing, Alumni Association, Personnel Services, etc for wellness center activities. In consultation and approval by the Athletic Director the position oversees all purchasing decisions, and directs and monitors all major maintenance or renovation projects. The Assistant AD/Recreational Services establishes operating policies and procedures consistent with University policies and regulations, state and federal law and manages short term, long term and strategic planning efforts for the organization. Management of the intramural, club sports and e-sports is an essential portion of the job. The successful candidate will also coordinate plan and implement campus wide activities of a social, cultural, educational, and recreational nature for the University community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures programs and services meet university, athletic department and recreational needs to include supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
Recruits, hires, and trains a diverse student staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. On-boards and develops them for success.
Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
Manages the program, including developing and monitoring the program budget to meet fiscal objectives; organizing and scheduling program registrations; compiling program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program; securing and scheduling the needed facilities; and creating and scheduling the classes, activities or events.
Achieves tasks, duties, and responsibilities assigned to this position that directly impact strategic initiatives.
Oversee the university’s Intramural Programs
Oversees the university’s Club & E-Sports Programs
Recruits, hires and oversees group exercise groups and instructors
Schedules programming of all activities in the wellness center
Creates and develops programing for the holistic development of students through mental health, physical health and spiritual
Represents the wellness center and recreational services at various meetings related to the position, including all assigned branch and association committees
Assists in athletic department activities and special events.
Flexible work hours to ensure exposure to all facets of department operation and performs all other duties as assigned by my supervisor.
Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university is required. Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 2-3 years related experience.
Minimum 5 years of management experience preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor’s degree is required.
Fitness training background is required
Prior administrate and supervisory experience including financial management, facility management, student development and program planning, and staff development/human resource issues are required.
The ability to plan and provide direction for a large and complex mix of business and service operation is essential. A thorough understanding of how the Center functions as part of the University at-large is necessary.
The Asst. AD/Recreational Services must be familiar with centralized University services such as Personnel, Purchasing, accounting, operation and maintenance, etc., and be able to represent the Center in any interactions with these areas.

Responsibility includes hiring professional and student staff for the operation of the facility including fitness and recreational areas. Additionally, position requires oversight of the intramural program.
An understanding of the role of student participation in the operation and governance of the facility and its programs and activities is required. Preference may be given to candidates with appropriate level in a comparable unit in a comprehensive Recreational division or to candidates with senior level college center operations and activates experience.
Mental Health, wellness and functional training is required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Physical ability to endure physically strenuous work-outs and physical exercise on a daily basis, including standing and/or walking for long periods, bending, stooping, lifting; manual dexterity; lifting of up to 30 pounds.
Ability to move about campus or other locations.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is primarily performed in a university campus environment and requires a flexible schedule including evening and weekend work.
Travel for administrative work is expected as well as concert performances at varied locations.
