This role will provide clinical psychology and performance optimization services to student-athletes. The successful candidate in this position will also be responsible for the development and implementation of philosophies, policies, and procedures of sport psychology service operations for student-athletes and supporting our mission of holistic student-athlete development.
This position requires the ability work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and travel for competition and recruiting.

Directs and provides mental health services (individual psychotherapy, psychological assessment, mandated substance abuse referrals, and crises) and sport performance consultation to student-athletes.
Provide crisis intervention for student-athlete mental health emergencies. Along with Sports Psychology staff provides counseling and mental health services for 508 student-athletes. Includes assessments and providing training.
Oversee network of mental health providers including full-time Clinical and Sport Psychologist(s) as well as specialists in psychiatry, disordered eating, substance abuse, psychological evaluations, and trauma. Ensures network of outside providers and Independent Contractors are adhering to NCAA rules and regulations.
Coordinates the Sport Psychiatry Residency program in partnership with the UArizona College of Medicine. Ensure students are receiving training and education to complete their degree requirements.
Oversee staff performance, including hiring, and overseeing budget for personnel expenses.
Facilitate interdisciplinary Health and Wellness Meetings and coordinating support services for student-athletes.
Working with outside providers presents educational meetings tostudent-athletes on a variety of topics, such as mental health and time management techniques.
Consult with teams and coaches regarding performance optimization and mental health needs. Works alongside head coaches to teach mental performance techniques.
Support and collaborate with C.A.T.S. Student-Athlete Development department on prevention education interventions. Coordinates various educational meetings for student-athletes with a focus on mental health and wellness.
Develop and execute institutional policies and procedures. Continually updates departmental goals and objectives to ensure messaging is being relayed to all student-athletes.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of psychotherapy and clinical/counseling psychology.
Knowledge of sport psychology and performance enhancement.
Knowledge of rules governing the NCAA and Conference.
Knowledge and understanding of eating disorders/disordered–eating assessment and treatment.
Knowledge of community-based mental health resources.
Expertise in one or more of the following areas is required: stress management, substance abuse and alcohol education, dating/sexual assault issues, eating disorders, crisis management, depression, anxiety, grief, identity issues, and other psychological issues related to injury and rehabilitation in competitive athletes, Title IX.
Ability to make accurate judgments concerning the physical, emotional, and educational welfare of student-athletes.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive interpersonal relations.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all organizational levels, and project a positive, professional attitude.
Ability to communicate and interact effectively, respectfully and appropriately with diverse populations in the Department, University and the community.
Able to accurately interpret and adhere to NCAA and PAC12 Conference rules, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, University of Arizona and the Department of Athletics polices, and Arizona licenser statutes.
Demonstrated ability to provide treatment and/or consultation that spans the spectrum of care for student-athletes.
Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to plan, establish priorities and successfully manage multiple priority projects.
Master's degree and state licensure required.
Minimum of 7 years of related work experience, including 3 years of managerial experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Ability to work nights and weekends and travel as needed.
Doctoral degree in a counseling or performance related field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
Three (3) years of professional experience in providing care for NCAA Division I student-athletes or other related settings.
