General Function

Reporting to the Director of Athletic Performance, the Assistant Athletic Performance Coach assists with all aspects of the Athletic Performance program which includes designing and implementing athletic performance services to all of the College’s varsity athletics teams.  As a member of the Jewell Community, the Assistant Athletic Performance Coach is fully responsible for compliance with all College policies and procedures in addition to all applicable bylaws of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC). At William Jewell College, Intercollegiate Athletics are a meaningful part of a student’s educational experience and valued as a co-curricular activity.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct the sport program in strict accordance with applicable NCAA and GLVC bylaws.
• Fully comply with all established College policies and procedures
• Assist in all aspects of the William Jewell College Athletic Performance program.
• Supervise team workouts under the direction of the Director of Athletic Performance.
• Design and implement sport specific training programs for assigned teams.
• Teach and execute proper technique of lifts, exercises, and drills.
• Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of the weight-room and other training facilities.
• Other related duties assigned by Director of Athletic Performance and Director of Athletics

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required (exercise science related field preferred)
• Working toward or already obtained a certification from an accredited strength and conditioning organization (CSCCa, NSCA, USAW, etc.).
• Familiarity with TeamBuildr or other web-based strength and conditioning tracking software
• Possess CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
• Experience working in a NCAA/NAIA 4-year college or university weight room with a variety of teams is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and strength and conditioning related technology is encouraged.

Working Conditions:

• Ability to lift and carry 50 –75 pounds.
• Ability to withstand adverse weather conditions, i.e. extreme heat or cold   
• Early morning weekend work are required.
