Assistant Athletic Trainer
New England College is located in beautiful Henniker, NH with easy access to skiing, hiking and is within driving distance to Boston, MA. The Assistant Athletic Trainer position is a 9-month position, providing competitive compensation with summers off.
The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for supporting 400+ student athletes alongside the Head Athletic Trainer and the other Assistant Athletic Trainers. This position provides practice and home game coverage for all varsity sports, including emergency first aid treatment, evaluating, advising, and treating athletes. The Athletic Trainer works collaboratively within the team as well as across various departments to ensure student athletes’ needs are met. The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for coordinating educational programming and facilitating the prevention, evaluation, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
The Assistant Athletic Trainer will provide practice and home game coverage for all varsity sports. This includes, but is not limited to: emergency first aid treatment, evaluating, advising, and treating athletes before, during, and after varsity competitions or practices, and communicating with opponents’ athletic trainers as necessary;

The Assistant Athletic Trainer will provide practice and home game coverage for all varsity sports. This includes, but is not limited to: emergency first aid treatment, evaluating, advising, and treating athletes before, during, and after varsity competitions or practices, and communicating with opponents’ athletic trainers as necessary;
Facilitate the prevention, evaluation and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
The Assistant Athletic Trainer will coordinate various educational programming, including in areas of drug and alcohol abuse, weight management and eating disorders, and use of supplements;
The Assistant Athletic Trainer will assist the Head Athletic Trainer in planning and organizing the operation of the athletic training department, including setting hours of operation, maintaining athletic training equipment, and ensuring that the needs of the student-athletes are served;
The Assistant Athletic Trainer will assist in carrying out various administrative functions and be the primary administrator of all student-athlete insurance claims. The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for following all New England College financial and insurance procedures;
The Assistant Athletic Trainer will serve as liaison between injured student-athletes and various constituencies.
Communicate the medical status and rehabilitation status of student-athletes to head coaches through use of daily treatment reports.
The Assistant Athletic Trainer will work with various members of the medical field, including student-athletes’ personal doctors, NEC’s physician and Wellness Center, and any other involved parties to ensure athletes receive the necessary treatment for injuries;
The Assistant Athletic Trainer will initiate and participate in various community service activities; attend department meetings; actively pursue opportunities to serve
NEC
in areas outside the athletic department; develop and implement department public relations in conjunction with the sports information director.
Bachelor’s degree in athletic training or related discipline
Certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the State of New Hampshire
1-3 years’ experience as an athletic trainer
Master’s degree is preferred
Athletic training experience in higher education
