This position is responsible for providing excellent athletic training services to all student-athletes involved in Union University athletics.
Union University is a private, coeducational liberal arts-based university offering bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. The campus is located in Jackson, Tenn. (80 miles northeast of Memphis) with additional campuses in Germantown, Hendersonville, and Memphis, Tenn. Union University currently enrolls about 3,200 undergraduate and graduate students from 48 states and 15 countries. Teaches- by means of demonstration, lecture and imparting tactical knowledge and practice – students in the Certified Athletic Training Program (diagnosing and treating athletic injuries during University student sporting events). Serves as an approved clinical instructor and is responsible for supervising Athletic Training Students as assigned by the Clinical Coordinator. Provides athletic training services for practices and events both home and away for assigned sports. Maintains and regulates the use of Union University’s Athletic Training Room facilities. Develops, nurtures, and maintains relationships with team physicians and other supplemental sports medicine team members.. Assists the Head Athletic Trainer in overseeing the provision of health services to Union University’s student-athletes. Maintains confidentiality of athlete injury information. Assists in the coordination, preparation and the administration of pre-season physicals for all athletes. Assists in the estimation, calculation and monitoring of budgeted athletic training room supplies. Assists in the documentation and security of all medical records. Maintains injury data information in proper order and reported in pre-assigned time frame. Reacts calmly and effectively in responding to emergency situations. Performs other duties as required by the department. Applies appropriate NCAA rules and regulations to the Athletic Trainer role as defined in the NCAA Division II Manual. Make sure that all student-athletes understand NCAA and GSC rules and compliance standards.

The applicant must be a graduate from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in pre-professional and profession study in a specialized curriculum of Athletic Training accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs or related field; current NATABOC certification and eligible for Tennessee licensure.
Preference will be given to applicants with a Master’s Degree in Athletic Training or related field.
