Major Duties

Under general supervision of the Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine, the Assistant Athletic Trainer assists in the operation of the Sports Medicine Department within the Intercollegiate Athletics Department, with responsibilities that include all aspects of screening, prevention and care of sports-related injuries and conditions. The incumbent assists in the coverage of athletic practices and contests, and provides clinical instruction within the Athletic Training Education Program.

  • Develops and administers rehabilitation programs for athletic injuries, attends practices and athletic events and provide emergency medical coverage to student-athletes, and travels with sports teams to away competitions.
  • Maintains updated files and accurate medical records of athletic injuries, medical insurance, medical history, injury referrals, conditioning programs, schedules, and other necessary data.
  • Coordinates clinical and physician appointments between athlete and either the Student Health Center or an outside referral, and informs coaching staff and other healthcare professionals regarding injury status and treatment plans.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
