The mission of the SIUE Intercollegiate Athletics program is to provide students with opportunities to enhance their education, to represent the University, and to participate in competitive sports while developing skills and understanding. This mission is fulfilled through meeting the following objectives:
The Athletic Department has two openings for the positions of Assistant Athletic Trainer responsible for evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for student-athletes. These positions are responsible for advising the head athletic trainer on the sports medicine program policies and procedures which will minimize medical costs but retain service, as well as advising the head athletic trainer, Director of Athletics, and risk management personnel on insurance/medical issues related to sports participation and care of athletic injuries. Possible primary sport assignments include (Men’s Basketball and Golf), (Women’s soccer and Baseball), but staffing fit will take precedence and adaptability a must. This position serves as conduit with team physicians, medical specialists, and health care providers and coordinates medical communication between student-athletes and coaches. The Assistant Athletic Trainer works in concert with head athletic trainer to purchase equipment and supplies, evaluates athletic facilities for safety, provides feedback for potential safety problems to the head athletic trainer, and provides injury reports to appropriate University and insurance personnel. The ideal candidate is supportive of the student-athlete concept and demonstrates concern for the health, safety, and welfare of each student-athlete. Additional duties as assigned, compliance with University, Conference and NCAA Division I rules and regulations. Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Professional Staff position, appointed on a 12-month basis with State of Illinois benefits package including health, dental, vision and State Employee Retirement System. The expected start date 7/15/24 or as soon as possible. The salary range for these positions are $45,000 – $55,000 commensurate on experience and qualifications.

Additional Information: This position does not offer work authorization sponsorship. International students at SIUE on F-1 or J-1 visas are not eligible for full-time or part-time civil service positions with permanent status. F-1 and J-1 visa holders must be enrolled full-time and can only apply for temporary part-time roles working 20 hours or less per week during spring and fall semesters, such as student worker positions, assistantships, and civil service extra help roles. SIUE is a state university, and it's important to highlight that benefits from state-sponsored plans may not be accessible to individuals on F1 or J1 visas.
