The Assistant Athletic Trainer has primary responsibility to assist with the overall medical and health related care of student athletes participating in NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletic teams within the University. Essential duties include but are not be limited to: assist in prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, physician referral, and medical documentation of all injuries associated with assigned student athletes; communication with coaches, student athletes, parents, staff and physicians within NATA and HIPAA guidelines; maintain and observe all athletic policy and procedures in accordance with NATA regulations and remain certified to perform these duties on a daily basis. Provide supervision of daily practice and game coverage, in season travel, and summer sports workout coverage for assigned sports as permitted by NCAA legislation and required to be flexible and adapt to schedule changes. Required to adhere to all policies, procedures, and regulations of the NATA, NCAA, Conference USA, and MTSU Athletic Department. Serve as an approved clinical instructor (ACI) within the CAATE accredited graduate athletic training curriculum program; and assist Associate Trainers in the supervision of certified graduate assistant athletic trainers, interns and our sports medicine athletic training students in the Sports Medicine educational program;instruct these students in professional prevention, care and rehabilitation of assigned athletes. Expected to attend national NATA and Conference USA meetings and/or conventions to remain current of their field for changes that occur. Required to comply with NCAA legislation and immediately report any known violations of NCAA rules to the Compliance Office and submit all required documentation to the Compliance office in a timely fashion; and perform other related tasks or projects as assigned.
Masters Degree Required
One (1) year of relevant collegiate and/or clinical athletic training experience required. Graduate Assistantships and/ or Internships in Athletic Training in a university training room accepted and preferred. Knowledge of NATABOC rules and regulations required. CPR, AED, First Aid Certified required.

Three (3) years of Division I Athletic Training experience preferred. Graduate Assistantships and/ or internships in a university training room will be accepted as relevant experience.
