PURPOSE
This position is responsible for coordinating and delivering athletic training services for Recreational Sports including: prevention, recognition, evaluation and treatment of athletic injuries for Club and Intramural Athletes; acute care and emergency response to athletic injuries at assigned events; creating and monitoring concussion protocol; and following-up on all injuries. Open evaluative times will also be included as position evolves.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver athletic training services to participants as assigned; prevention, recognition, evaluation and treatment of athletic injuries; acute care and emergency response to athletic injuries; rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletic injuries; and injury care administration for the student participants.
Maintaining comprehensive medical records for individual participants, daily injury reports for all participants, and annual injury report summarizing injuries, treatments, and follow up care.
Organize and coordinate the inventory of athletic training equipment and supplies.
Provide coverage of events as assigned.
Develop concussion protocol for Recreational Sports programming.
Develop and oversee Functional Return-to-Play programs following an injury and adhering to concussion protocol return to play policies
Work with Competitive Sport Coordinator, Assistant Directors and Director to update policies and procedures.
Conduct baseline testing for Club Athletes
Provide educate on a variety of sports medicine topics.
Perform other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Bachelor’s degree in athletic training, sports administration, or related field.
Certified by the Board of Certification (BOC). Texas athletic trainer license or temporary permit by date of hire.
Experience in using electronic medical records system documentation
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook).
Effective verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills.
Evening hours and/or weekends required.
WHAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO SEE
Master’s degree in athletic training, sports administration, or related field.
One (1) year related experience.
Certification as an American Red Cross Instructor for CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
Experience as an athletic trainer with college sports teams. Knowledgeable of NCAA rules.
Experience as a Preceptor for an Athletic Training Program.
Experience in teaching, evaluating, and supervising athletic training students in clinical performance.
PAY RANGE
$40,000 - $45,000/annual.
Salary is dependent upon education/experience.
NOTE: This position is the primary Risk and First Aid injury prevention point of contact for all Recreational Sport Camps during the Summer.
