Assistant Athletic Trainer
The Assistant Athletic Trainer will assist in overseeing the prevention and care of all varsity athletic injuries. The role of this position is to provide direction for one of two training room sites on campus and coordinate the Athletic Training staff to meet the athletic training needs of 25 varsity programs.
● Assist in the oversight of all medical-related aspects for varsity athletics, including evaluation, first aid, and triage of injuries.
● Assist the Head Athletic Trainer in all training room aspects involved with coverage of 25 varsity sports and junior varsity sports.

Assistant Athletic Trainer
The Assistant Athletic Trainer will assist in overseeing the prevention and care of all varsity athletic injuries. The role of this position is to provide direction for one of two training room sites on campus and coordinate the Athletic Training staff to meet the athletic training needs of 25 varsity programs.
● Assist in the oversight of all medical-related aspects for varsity athletics, including evaluation, first aid, and triage of injuries.
● Assist the Head Athletic Trainer in all training room aspects involved with coverage of 25 varsity sports and junior varsity sports.
● Keep and maintain accurate and updated records on all reportable injuries.
● Keep and maintain accurate and updated records on all treatments and rehabilitations taking place in the athletic training room as ordered by the Team Physician.
● Responsible for compliance with all NCAA, NCAC, and OSHA guidelines.
● Cooperate and work with members of the coaching staff and other athletic department personnel.
● Oversee administration and operation of an Athletic Training Facility.
● Keep and maintain a safe and clean workplace environment for athletes and staff members. Follow Bloodborne Pathogens guidelines.
● Responsible for knowledge of and effective administration of JCU Athletic Department policy and procedures.
● Maintaining updated status in CPR, First-Aid, and CEU guidelines set by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA).
● Demonstrate a commitment to the University Mission and to the Department of Athletics Learning Outcomes and Goals. Possess the ability to communicate the University Mission and Athletic Department Goals and Learning Outcomes to assistant trainers and students.
● May have team responsibility as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.
● Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
● Represent John Carroll in a respectful manner through actions, words, and dress.
● Must be certified as an Athletic Trainer under the guidelines of the NATA and be licensed as an Athletic Trainer by the Ohio Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Athletic Trainers Board (OTPTAT) by the time of hire.
● Ability to communicate with student athletes and coaches in a positive and professional manner.
● Knowledge of the most recent athletic training and rehabilitation standards and techniques.
● Interest in understanding and supporting John Carroll’s mission to inspire individuals to excel in learning, leadership, and service in the region and in the world.
● Previous experience working in a collegiate athletic training setting and performing tasks such as care and prevention of athletic injuries, record keeping of injuries, and knowledge of the NCAA athletic training portal sites.
● Knowledge of multiple sports, including football, soccer, lacrosse, softball, basketball, volleyball, and wrestling.
● Collegiate experience is preferred.
This position works in-person from our campus in University Heights, Ohio. This position is a 10-month full-time appointment which requires working hours during the workday, evenings, and weekends. Schedules vary depending upon varsity team assignments. Travel is required with varsity teams.
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an athletic training room setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to athletic practice and competition locations and to verbally communicate to exchange information.” Must be able to operate small vehicles such as a golf cart, medical transport cart, or gator. Must be able to work in a variety of outdoor weather conditions.

Exempt (Salary)
Starting annual salary will be $37,000 – $45,000 commensurate with qualifications. This position offers a generous.
