POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Athletic Trainer will join a collaborative department dedicated to supporting both colleagues and the overall well-being of student athletes. This role provides comprehensive athletic training services, including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation, for student-athletes competing across 20 sports at an NCAA Division II institution. This is a newly added position, expanding the Athletic Training Department to six full-time athletic trainers. This position is located on Post University's main campus in Waterbury, CT.
Essential Accountabilities:
Preparation and coverage of practices, home games, and occasional awaygames.
Responsible for injury prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate care, treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning, and organization and administration under the athletic training scope of practice.
Assist with managing the daily operations of the athletic training room, including keeping updated medical records andPPE.
Able to perform physical requirements of the job - lifting, kneeling, sitting, squatting,andstanding for long hours.
Ability to consult with Team Physician, Strength and Conditioning Coaches, and other health care professionals for referralsand treatment plans.
Assist in scheduling doctor appointments and processing insurance claims for athletic-related instances.
Sports coverage will include 2-3 primary teams and will be determined by the Head Athletic Trainer.
Weekends, evenings, holiday hours, and some travel are required.
