The primary purpose of the Assistant Athletic Trainer is to support the university’s comprehensive sports medical program by being responsible for the recognition, assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning for injuries that occur to UNCW’s varsity athletes. This position will provide training coverage for UNCW Athletics; apply professional judgment and discretion to each medical case; advise coaches on return to competition for student-athletes; and demonstrate discretion and sound judgment in working with confidential information and the well-being of the student-athletes.This is a full-time 11-month position (with benefits).
Master’s degree in applicable field from a regionally accredited institution
3 years of experience as the primary athletic trainer with a collegiate Softball team Previous full-time certified experience as an athletic trainer at the college/ university setting Other certifications such as Active Release Technique; IASTM, Performance Enhancement Specialist, Corrective Exercise Specialist, Functional Movement Screen, Dry Needling
Professional Rescuer CPR and First Aid certified AED certified National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board Certification – NATABOC Possession of NC Athletic Training licensure or must acquire within 90 days
