Job Description

The Sports Medicine Department at Milligan University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Athletic Trainer with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2024. Reporting to the Head Athletic Trainer, this position requires a skilled allied health professional that specializes in education, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries. This position effectively interacts with patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers while maintaining the standards of care and code of ethics as detailed by the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA).

The 10-month position (salary provided over a 12-month pay period) provides medical coverage and injury evaluation with multiple NAIA intercollegiate sports programs for home competitions, practices, and local tournaments with a teamwork approach. This position provides injury prevention, evaluation, management, treatment of athletic injuries, as well as short-term and long-term rehabilitation of athletic injuries.

Qualifications: Successful candidates must possess a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in the field of Athletic Trainer from an accredited CAATE program, First Aid/APR/AED certification, Tennessee licensure and/or eligibility to apply, BOC certification, and a minimum of 1-year collegiate experience preferred but not required.The successful candidate must communicate effectively with all types of individuals and establish and maintain a strong working relationship with allied health care professionals, students, parents, faculty, staff, and other university personnel. Administrative and organizational skills are also required to manage daily office responsibilities that can include COVID–19 related tasks, pre-participation physicals, and medical record keeping. Some travel may be required for coverage at AAC tournaments and/or NAIA championships. Successful candidates should also demonstrate a strong Christian faith and commitment to Milligan’s mission as a Christian liberal arts university.
