The purpose of this position is to assist with the administration of the Sports Medicine Program for the health, safety and welfare of student-athletes under general supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer.
Evaluate, treat and rehabilitate athletic injuries.
Supervise sports medicine needs of specific teams as assigned by head trainer.
Assist in establishing and maintaining a working relationship with coaches, physicians, parents and University Health Services and refer students as necessary.
Assist with the medical record-keeping and insurance for student-athletes.
Coordinate pre-participation physical examinations with head athletic trainer.
Schedule doctor’s appointments for injured athletes.
Assist with inventory of medical supplies and equipment.
Counsel student-athletes with regard to a variety of medical issues.
Remain in full compliance with
NCAA
, Peach Belt Conference and University policies and procedures, and acknowledges this compliance as part of the evaluation process.
Teach care and prevention of athletic injuries class during fall semester for Kinesiology Department within College of Education as needed.
Obtains the required continuing education credits to fulfill the requirements for licensure renewal and national certification.
Assist with applicable
NCAA
and Institutional Drug Testing programs.

The educational requirement for this position is: Bachelors’ Degree in Athletic training or related discipline. Master’s degree preferred.

This position requires: Two (2) years experience as assistant athletic trainer, graduate assistant athletic trainer or four (4) years as student trainer at intercollegiate level.
