The Department of Athletics at Bloomsburg, an NCAA Division II Institution with 23 varsity sports programs (wrestling is an NCAA Division I program) is searching for a 12-month tenure track faculty assistant athletic trainer. We seek a dedicated individual to be a part of a team who can provide strong leadership, and a high level of service and care to our student-athletes.
Responsibilities include: Recognize care and rehabilitate athletic injuries Diagnose and supervise care of injuries Design rehabilitative programs for student athletes Supervise and educate work study students Shared responsibility for athletic training room including budgeting, staff development, NCAA rules knowledge and drug testing experience, and record keeping Provide practice/game coverage Design and implementation of athletic health care education The position will require modest travel Non-traditional and evening hours are primary and required, with staff rotations.
Requirements include: Master’s degree, NATA Certification, Pennsylvania licensure or eligibility, and PR/CPR and/or ECC Certification, minimum of three years of collegiate certified athletic training experience, and knowledge of and experience with NCAA rules. Prior experience working with a diverse population of college student-athletes required. Experience and familiarity with accident insurance claims, working with contact sports, an ability and understanding of sport injuries within a variety of male and female sports, including but not limited to shoulder and running injuries, and working with insurance billing software preferred.
The faculty position is a member of the Department of Athletics Faculty that report directly to the Director of Athletics. Salary is very competitive, at an Instructor level, and includes an attractive benefit package.
Finalist(s) for this position must communicate well and successfully complete an interview process. Recommendation for hiring is needed for a majority of the regular, full-time department faculty. Completing this search is contingent upon student enrollment and available funding.
Offers of employment are conditional, pending successful completion of the background clearances mandated by Act 153 of 2014 and Board of Governors Policy 2014-01-A: Protection of Minors. In order to qualify for a provisional appointment, the Applicant Acknowledgement Consent Form, Provisional Hire Form, Pennsylvania State Police and Justifacts portion of the clearance process must be successfully completed prior to your start date. The remaining PA Child Abuse History Clearance and FBI Clearance must be successfully completed and returned as soon as possible within the first 90 days of employment.
