The Assistant Athletic Trainer will report directly to the Director of Athletic Training Services/Head Athletic Trainer and is independently responsible for the day-to-day sports medicine/athletic training operations of one or more of the Methodist University’s 20 NCAA Division III Varsity, JV/Developmental teams and Cheerleading.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Independently and effectively oversee all sports medicine operations for assigned teams with minimum supervision
Prevention, Evaluation, Treatment and Rehabilitation of student-athlete injuries and illnesses within the University’s comprehensive sports medicine program
Maintain accurate, complete and precise documentation utilizing an electronic medical record system
Completing required insurance claims
Compliance with privacy regulations (FERPA, HIPAA, etc.)
Daily interaction and communication with coaching staff including routine reports and correspondence
Work closely with/have good work working relationship with team orthopedic practice/team physicians
Schedule and coordinate medical appointments
Maintain communication with Student Health Services for non-orthopedic illnesses
Advocate and provide resources for nutritional and mental health
Attending designated team practices/events
Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays in excess of 40 hours/week
Travel/Coverage of away events; pending sport assignment
Maintenance/Upkeep of Athletic Training equipment and facilities
Uphold Policies and Procedures set forth by Methodist University, the USA South Conference and the NCAA
Assistance with administrative duties as agreed upon by candidate and Director of Athletic Training Services

Qualifications
Graduated from a CAATE accredited program; Masters Degree Preferred
Certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC)
North Carolina State Athletic Trainer License or eligible
