Job Summary: The Assistant Athletic Trainer reports to the Head Athletic Trainer in coordination with the Athletic Director, and Team Physician(s). In conjunction with the Head Athletic Trainer will assist in the health care program of intercollegiate athletics, including, emergency care, evaluation, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Provide support services to the department in a manner that professionally, cordially, and efficiently assists students, faculty, staff, and visitors Assist the Head Athletic Trainer directing and supervising the athletic training room Responsible for providing medical coverage to intercollegiate athletic teams as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer Confer with the team physician to ensure proper evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injured student-athletes Responsible for coordination of all referred medical services, including, but not limited to; proper documentation, and medical record upkeep Serve as a clinical instructor/supervisor to interns/student workers within the Sports Medicine department Follow NCAA Rules and Regulations and the NATA Code of Ethics. Remain current on all state and national requirements for license renewal Travel with teams as needed Comply with and establish a line of communication among parents, physicians, athletes, and coaches Offer continuing education courses to educate and counsel coaching staffs, student-athletes, students, physicians, and co-workers Perform other duties and special projects as requested Competencies: Ability to multi-task, organize, manage time effectively, and keep tasks appropriately prioritized Ability to work with, assist, lead, and take directions from others in the interest of operating the beanery and concessions to their optimal efficiency Work Setting: Expectation of on-campus presence with attendance and punctuality Promote personal safety, safety procedures, and a safe work environment Employment at will Full-time status 12-month appointment Non-exempt About SWOSU: With locations in Weatherford, Yukon, Sayre, and online degree programs, SWOSU is one of the leading regional universities in the country. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or equivalent NATABOC certification Oklahoma licensure eligible Must be willing to travel and work a flexible schedule Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree 2 years experience with NATABOC certification College athletic training experience Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the President of SWOSU or their designee may find appropriate
