The Assistant Athletic Trainer supports the Director of Sports Performance in all facets of the Sports Medicine Program. This position performs duties related to the care, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for intercollegiate athletics programs.Essential Duties Include: Support the Director of Sports Performance in all facets of the Sports Medicine Program. Provide medical care for NCAA division I athletes including prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation. Develop professional relationships with adjunct medical staff including Student Health Center, PCP, orthopedic surgeon, on-campus PT, EMS, etc. Supervise Loyola work-study students. Assist with CPR/AED training for athletic department staff. Assist with medical insurance claims and paperwork. Organize and facilitate weekly physician clinics. Coordinate Student-Athlete Pre-Participation Exams. Assist in the daily administration and operation of the athletic training facilities. Maintain medical records and provide medical updates to colleagues. Serve as a preceptor for students from nearby college athletic training education programs. Assist with monitoring medical supplies and inventory. Coordinate rehabilitation programs for injured athletes. Monitor, document, and communicate progress. Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor.
Bachelor’s degree.NATABOC Certification, Maryland State Athletic Training License.1-3 years of relevant experience.Appropriate knowledge of NCAA rules and best practices.Effective oral and written communication skills.Interest in supporting the mission and values of a Catholic Jesuit. education, as well as University goals for institutional diversity.Willingness to work outside in all weather conditions.Ability to occasionally lift up to 80 pounds.Willingness to travel, including some multi-day travel.Willingness to work weekends, evenings, and holidays, with little notice of schedule changes.
Master’s degree.CPR/AED Instructor Certification.
