Job Summary

 

The Assistant Athletic Trainer will assist the Coordinator of Athletic Training Services in all aspects of the health care for the students of Florida International University. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will assist with organization and administrative duties as assigned.

• Works in cooperation with the Coordinator of Athletic Training Services and the Associate Athletic Trainer to provide medical care to students of Florida International University including but not limited to the prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and referral of injuries and illnesses.
• Assists the Coordinator of Athletic Training Services in the organizational and administrative duties of the Athletic Training Services program.
• Maintains work schedule in the Athletic Training Services clinic in cooperation with and as assigned by the Coordinator of Athletic Training Services.
• Attends and provides on-field medical care for high-contact intramural and club sport competitions and home events as assigned by Coordinator of Athletic Training Services.
• Documents and maintains adequate medical records in accordance with federal, state, and university regulations.

• Collaborates with the Wellness and Recreation Center on health-related initiatives.
• Works in conjunctions with the Wellness and Recreation Center, University Safety Officer, and Coordinator of Athletic Training Services to develop, maintain, and update Emergency Actions Plans for all competition venues in accordance with University Risk Management guidelines annually and as necessary.
• Interprets and implements policies and procedures for Athletic Training Services as well as recommend changes as necessary.
• Supervises undergraduate interns and graduate athletic training students in accordance with applicable program policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

 

Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one (1) year of appropriate experience.

Must have the following Licenses/Certifications:

• CPR/Standard First Aid Certification
• National Athletic Trainer Association Certification
• State of Florida Athletic Training Licensure (eligible or licensed)

Desired Qualifications

 

Doctoral degree in Athletic Training.
