General Notes
Additional hours will be required to include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Travel will be required. This job is not suitable for remote work and is expected to work regular on-site hours.
Purpose
Assist in servicing the medical needs of student-athletes with special reference to the care, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
Responsibilities
Provides primary medical coverage for football team as assigned by the Director, Football Sports Medicine to include all practices, home and away competitions, and host events. Assist in designing, initiating and progressing rehabilitation programs as needed according to the changing health status of injured/ill athletes.
Assist in the design and implementation of pre-season exercise and rehabilitation programs for student-athletes with pre-existing medical conditions and test results that warrant such programs.
Supervise and direct undergraduate athletic training students as assigned. Work cooperatively with other staff, coaches/department personnel.
Assist in maintaining electronic medical records. Evaluate readiness to compete.
Facilitate the process of cross-disciplinary liaison and collaboration by working with relevant disciplines (i.e., chiropractic, nutrition, massage therapy, etc.) in the pursuit of athletic health solutions. Work within the confines of institutional policies and NCAA rules with regards to medical expense coverage.
Assist with executions of drug education and testing of student-athletes in accordance with institutional, Conference and NCAA regulations.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer and Sr. Associate Athletic Trainer/Head Football Athletic Trainer. Drive a UT and/or personal vehicle on and off campus.

Fully cooperate with any investigation by providing complete and accurate information when requested to do so by Texas Athletics and/or the NCAA and do not influence others in any way during an investigation. Master’s degree. Three years of experience in athletic training at the NCAA Division I level. Licensed Athletic Trainer by Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (or eligible). Certified as athletic trainer by NATABOC. Knowledge and support of NCAA rules and regulations. Experience with creation, acquisition, and maintenance of medical records. Demonstrated understanding of the medical needs, expectations, and requirements of student-athletes to promote, maintain, and enhance their health and well-being. Demonstrated interest in pursuing continuous personal and professional development activities. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively work in teams. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Proven effectiveness in cross-disciplinary collaboration both inside (in other units and functions) and outside the organization. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
More than 3 years of experience as Athletic Trainer at NCAA Division I level. Experience working with football student-athletes. Advanced certifications in adjunct allied health specialties (e.g. CSCS, LMT, PT, CES, PES, etc.) or demonstrated advanced clinical skill set. Experience implementing complementary and alternative therapies into conventional plans of care when appropriate. Experience providing clinical instruction and supervision to Athletic Training Students in an accredited Athletic Training Education Program.
This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).
