The Assistant Athletics Director for Communications & Digital Media provides leadership and oversight for La Salle University’s athletics communications functions, including social media strategy and publicity of sport programs. Those responsibilities include managing the day-to-day public relations for select sport programs, including men’s basketball, and collaborating with the external team on digital engagement through social media channels. This position will work with the external relations team to create a comprehensive communications and digital media strategy that enhances the experience of our student-athletes and all La Salle sport programs.
Manage public relations strategies for a number of sport programs, from creation through execution, to ensure a proactive, opportunistic mindset for all programs, coaches, events and staff. Supervise all online content distributed across departmental mediums including, but not limited to, GoExplorers.com, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. Supervise the dissemination of all media-related publications including electronic media guides, record books, game notes, press releases and special mailings. Manage social media accounts (Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook) of assigned sport programs, working with coaching staffs to ensure the distribution of quality content. Work with Athletic External Relations team on digital media projects that amplify messaging on social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Twitter. Assist in production of video content for GoExplorers.com, including highlight packages, interviews, weekly magazine show, promotional videos and game previews. Help to design graphics package for use on La Salle athletics’ social media accounts. Collaborate with Digital Media Assistant on ESPN+ broadcasts, working to enhance in-game promotion of teams Help to supervise, train, and manage communications and digital media graduate assistants. Working knowledge of NCAA Live Stats and Stat Crew statistical programs, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator and Final Cut Pro preferred. Supervise and coordinate game management positions, including student workers and select staff, at home athletic events. Oversee statistical information for assigned sports, including compiling and maintaining records on each sport, distribution of statistics and information, maintaining and updating information files on student-athletes and staff. Report results of all games and events to media, Atlantic 10 Conference and/or NCAA Offices. Assist in the development of the annual marketing plans for men’s & women’s basketball, including the creation of a promotional schedule. Prepare and distribute press releases, game previews, game recaps and other media relations materials for assigned sports Prepare game programs for all home events for sports for which they are the official contact. Promote individual athletes for All-Conference, All-America, and other honors as appropriate. Oversee the Sports Information Office as needed Perform other work-related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position. Knowledge, understanding, and full compliance with the rules, regulations and philosophies of the NCAA, various conference affiliations, and La Salle University. Responsible for report of potential violations, eligibility problems, rules infractions, or disciplinary action of student-athletes immediately to the Athletic Director (or his/her designee) Communicate and cooperate with Assistant Athletic Director on a regular basis on all developments with public relations potential
Serves on NCAA, Atlantic 10 Conference, University and department committees as assigned. Maintains continual and thorough familiarity with applicable NCAA, Atlantic 10 and University rules and regulations. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor’s in communications or related field of study. 3+ years of experience in a communications position. Experience in strategic planning and execution, and management. Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of La Salle University.
Master’s degree preferred in marketing or related field of study Business experience with collegiate or professional sports preferred Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Ability to use both problem solving and sound judgment in situations requiring independent initiative and tact.
Travel and off-peak hours required (i.e., attend on-campus and off-campus athletic events, department events, donor functions)
