This position serves as a member of the Department of Athletics external relations team and manages the departments digital media content and strategy. Core duties include managing the day-to-day planning and execution of the Athletic Department digital media content, recruiting, training and maintaining the digital media student workforce and evaluating and reporting on Athletic Department digital media trends and analytics.
Manage the execution of day-to-day tasks related to digital media, social media, and content creation for all athletic department and sport-specific online channels for the University of Portland Athletics division incorporating appropriate channels to meet departmental and/or organizational objectives.
Develop and execute a digital media calendar and content plan across all social media platforms for department and team accounts.
Write creative and engaging copy for social media posts and campaigns across Athletics department online channels.
Track, measure and report on social media data analytics and brand awareness. Apply results to inform decisions regarding strategic digital media campaigns.
Monitor, engage and report social media trends through social listening.
Manage student and third party photographers. Oversee photo asset library.
Manage graphic design projects as assigned.
Collaborate with Marketing & Fan Engagement, creative services, ticketing and development to develop and execute a cohesive strategy for digital media.
Recruit, hire and supervise a team of student employees to assist with day-to-day and gameday content. Supervisory responsibilities include hiring processes, setting of expectations, training and professional development, performance management and evaluations, and disciplinary processes including termination of employment.
Support in the transport of Athletics staff and/or student employees to and from locations as needed to meet the demands of Athletics travel and events, using rental vehicles and University owned vehicles.
Other duties as relevant to the duties of the position or as assigned by supervisor or designee.

Required: Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience.
Preferred: Prior experience in sports or athletics department within an institution of higher education.
Or a combination of equivalent education and/or experience.
Valid state driver’s license.
Ability to learn and support the mission of the University of Portland and the University’s Athletics Department.
Experience in graphic design, photography and/or videography, with the ability to perform basic video editing skills.
Proven ability to achieve an organization’s vision, values and programs through marketing and communication initiatives.
Strong computer skills and proficiency with office software, email, marketing and social media, and data analysis related applications; ability to quickly learn and use new technologies and applications in depth at level of proficiency appropriate for the position’s duties.
Ability to consistently handle and follow through with multiple projects and assignments and meet deadlines.
Strong orientation towards taking initiative and ownership of projects and assignments and being proactive with projects, assignments, and process improvements.
Strong organizational and time management skills; excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Effective ability to use and learn computers, technology, software, and applications at level of sophistication required for the duties of the position, including, without limitation, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), the internet, and computerized maintenance management systems.
All University of Portland positions require the ability to quickly learn and use new technologies, software, and applications in depth and at level of proficiency required for duties of the position. In most situations, the necessity of learning, using, and supporting new technologies, software, and/or applications does not change a job description nor make the position one that involves higher level duties.

Occasionally: stand and walk; twist; lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

Occasionally: Drive student athletes and/or other University personnel to practice, games, or other functions.
Hours of employment: will require working flexible and/or longer hours, including early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, and/or holidays when necessitated by projects.
Work-related stress: there may be stress from work-related situations such as those involving challenging, important, urgent, time-sensitive, or multiple matters.
